I have a set of Avon ZZS which are great and I use them for hill climbing. However I want to buy a second set of tyres for my road/track day rims. I’m not too worried about outright grip, but I want something which will handle nicely and be good all rounders. Anyone got any experience of the above tyres on a Caterham. My car is on 13 x 6” rims and runs 135bhp. Also, what compound would be the best all round with regards to the NS2R’s? I have done all the usual searches but can’t find anything conclusive. Thanks in advance!

Eugene7, who might be along with his opinion, adores his R888Rs...

Thanks Col, to be honest I was really wondering if anyone has any experience of NS2R’s or A539’s.

I have a set of a539s on 14 inch wheels and just bytbthe nankangs on my 13 inch for trackdays.

Have done one day at Bedford last week and I was very pleased with the nankangs. Far more grip on track than a539s, not quite r888 level of grip but they were nice and predictable and felt great.

On the road they are rather traimliny and a bit noisier but overall perfectly fine.

That’s good feedback and I am looking for something predictable, outright grip not so much of an issue, but want them to be progressive, thanks.
