Caterham Hood question

Hi. I've just bought a Caterham 7 S3 full hood from eBay. Now that I have it, I’ve found that there is no Velcro strip for the front hood frame. The hood didn’t come with poppers, so I’ll need to add these. But when I’m draping the hood over the hood frame, it's disconcerting to observe how the rear hood frame (narrower bar) does not fit to the crease stitching where the hood turns down at the back.

The hood was sold as a Caterham hood and has a zipped in rear window. Has anyone come across a hood like this before? It’s odd that this is not quite like other Caterham full hoods that can see on the internet.

I've never seen an official hood missing poppers and velcro, but all hoods are specific to the type of roll bar you have. Personally I find the combination of a half hood and a long nose shower cap a much better option anyway. It covers all the bases, looks better, doesn't steam up and doesn't require faffing with hood bars.

Thanks. I've managed to return the hood, which is a relief as it didn't fit my car. I agree, the half hood is rather good and i'll stick with this for now.

The velcro strip is important however the lack of poppers isn't as the location of the poppers can vary a little, so adding poppers for your specific 7 is something all builders need to do. It's quite simple.

Yes the poppers can vary from car to car.

Honestly, having owned a full hood, once we tried the half hood we never went back.

The full hood sat in the attic for years and I finally moved it on last year.

As far as i know, S3 hoods doesn't come with zipped rear window.

S3 Hoods with zipped rear window are shown on Caterham Parts under ref 30V290A but are a staggering £998.84 when in stock!
