Er no, quite the opposite.

I detest these tts who are too insecure to come out from behind their meaningless Blatchat ids when they post controversial comment.

I'd love to know who it is. I'm sure they probably have a more obvious Blatchat id also.

Arnie,

I hate people like that too, they're a bit like people who'll send Blatmails, without putting their name or email address on it.

Brazing, when done correctly, is a much better job than MIG. Robots MIG. Monkey's MIG. Craftsmen braze/bronze weld. Personally I think you know this perfectly well, you just like the bartering point. When you sorted the tunnel the last time and it was all down to the strength of MIG...did you add any extra tubes? I seem to remember you added several. So how can you possibly say its MIG? Its the extra triangulation...not the welding.

Willie
p.s. I do actualy hope you get the car sold, for a decent whack of money. But for Pete's sake, get back on Blatchat and liven the place up.

Second that.

- Since Arnie left it's been far from the same as it used to be...

Willie,

Welcome to Pistoheads, I note you have only just registered.

The problem here is, that with all the marque experts pissed off by people like Brent and his henchmen, to the extent that it is simply not worth the £35 to post on BC. The forum as a result is far too much based upon assumption rather than fact.

Negative comments such as that made by someone regarding the fact taht my chassis was repaired using mig welding would have been made by somebody who:
1. Never examined the original chassis fractures, to see the damage was actuallt caused by fatigue adjacent to the welds - the very thing nickel bronze welding is supposed to address.
2. Probably does nnot undertand that the Rush and the Westfield, both of which have had equally agresssive power trains to my car installed, are both MIG welded and none of them have ever failed through fatigue.
3. Whoever made the comment on BC probably does not understand the legacy behind the pre 1996.5 chassis, and hence has no idea why this chassis type is particularly prone to this type of failure when fitted with an power train like mine.
4. As fo "any additional chassis strengthening?" its always a good idea to research 1. the advert where this is clearly stated, 2. the history of the car on my website.

This person is the second imbecile to make unqualified comments about my car, the other being Mark Piper in his statement that the car had previously been offered for sale at £20k. That particular comment was based entirley on hearsay.

My best recomendation to people on Blatchat is to not offer comment on the subject of my car unless they can fully substantiate the truth. The way things are going I will go legal and get BC closed down.

Where will Don Keekok aka Brent Chiswick waste his time then?

If I may make a suggestion, why not respray the car?
Brilliant paint job, very likable, different, but how can a new owner stamp his own mark upon it.
Why not offer the car with paint colour of there choice
I do agree that Blat Chat has lost something since you left Arnie, thanks from me for all your efforts in the past and the brilliant Le Mans trip I attended.

Having only owned a se7en for a year and not having history on BC going back that far I was fairly dissapointed with some of the negative comments about yourself and your car.

However, the above statement is a bit silly.

Good luck with the sale.

Yes I agree bit of a silly statement. Also perhaps Mark Piper made a genuine mistake when talking about your car, hardly makes him an imbecile. I've met him on a number of occasions and I can assure you he is not.

Arnie,

The person (Opposite Lock) who posted on Blatchat about your mig welding, is actually me. That thread was a bit boring and I was hoping to get you out of the woodwork. Also, you just hit on a sensitive subject of mine.

Brazing is my thing, and I assure you, if it was done correctly, it was not at fault. I have always kept an eye on your site, and I remember looking at the photos of the tunnel/diff at the time. You've already said in your own words that it was the metal that fatigued, not the bronze weld...so obviously the weld wasn't to blame. The fault was tubes bending.

So if you fixed it by fitting extra tubes (29 according to your site)then surely what you actually did was stiffen it and stop the flexing? So its nothing to do with the welding.

I'll accept an online apology, don't worry biggrin

Willie
p.s. I think you know the above, but don't let on as you like to tell Caterham owner's your Caterham is welded in the same way as Westfields.

Don't remember it being green. Purple, orange, yellow then 2-tone. I liked the orange colour scheme. Hope you're well Arnie.

thumbup

key message here is that "if the 'weld' was done correctly" - this has a crucial impact on the strength of the joint. Note that I'm NOT commenting on Arnie's car as I haven't seen it!

PS Nickel bronze welding and brazing are two different things BTW!

Arnie, when you make comments like you did on this thread, http://www.blatchat.com/T.asp?id=113646&pn=1&a... You are bound to upset people. So when you come to sell your car, you have to expect similar treatment/comments. You may not have liked the car. But you did not need to say what you did, and now you are upset when someone makes a minor comment about yours?

Personally, I think Cannonball Bob summed it up quite well...
Opinions are like belly buttons. Everyone's got one, they're all different and none of them hold much water.
Life is too short to worry about things like that in my opinion.
Someone else does not like it, so what?
Hopefully someone will, and they will buy it.

Alex, you are right, it was yellow!

Hi All,
My first post over here...

Arnie, just for reference, I've spoken to 2 of the people I emailed they were mildly interested in your car and both said, independantly of each other, they would need to get it re-painted. At the moment..it's YOUR car and until it was repainted it would always be YOUR car...

Whatever the paint job I am surprised you've not sold it yet and whilst they and i liked the paint scheme I honestly believe thats the main reason why someone has not offered you atleast 30K for starters....
