Vauxhall Astra SRi Estate 2012 - Water leak in to the boot.
Discussion
This family car has water in the boot, but we cannot find where the entry point is.
The photo below shows the area where the water becomes visible.
Nearside (left) boot floor in the rear corner.
Just above the area shown in this first photo, is an access flap in the carpeting, behind which are some electrical components (shown in the second photo). Traces of water can also be seen in there, so presumably the point of water entry must be higher up than that.
Water does enter during periods of rain when the car is stationary, so that suggests a faulty seal, but we cannot find anything obvious.
Would be very grateful for your suggestions.
Thanks.
Is it an Astra J or an H?
My wife had a J though it was a hatch not an estate and it developed a water leak into the boot.
There are two oval shaped covers at the top of the body when you open the bootlid, close to the hinges. No idea what they are for - I thought they were maybe how the vehicle is held when it goes through the production line or for painting. Anyway, that was where the water was getting in. I sealed them up with some clear silicone sealant and never had any issues again.
I’m not even sure if the estate has those covers but worth a look.

Thank you for your reply.
Will investigate those two oval covers.
The car has factory roof rails, so I suppose they might also be connected with a potential water entry point.
