VX do you share the same chassiss
Discussion
The chassis is subtly different, and there seems to be different views (from the masses and even Lotus employees) as to what is based on what.
Certainly the central tub section is very very similar to the EliseII - but the VX came first, so you could perhaps say that the EII is based on the VX.
In reality whilst I am sure the CADs all started on the same computer in real life, due to the different subassemblies for engine and suspension they will certainly be produced on different lines at Hydro (who make the chassis).
Clear - no - not really

Thanks for the link, just lately ive turned into a "VX spotter" ,in one 40 mile journey i saw 3 VX's,,but clearly not as common as the Elise yet,,they are as common as .........
,,ide like to see VX220,Elise and MR2's together on the track,,how would they compare?
As for the track - it'll depend on the track, driver, etc, etc, but I'd expect them to perform in the order you've listed them - Elise first, VX second, MR2 third (although I've not driven an MR2, so I may be doing them a dis-service).
The Elise is more track focussed than the VX in terms of setup (the S1 is very much so - the VX is closer to the S2's setup, handling wise), so I'd expect it to win. High speed circuits are different, as the VX goes faster then the Elise flat out. Don't know top speed of the MR2, but the VX is supposed to do 136mph (or 151 for the turbo).

VXTT pisses over any Elise except a 190bhp Exige, which wins (just) due to the trick downforce wing.
VX1 vs Elise1 depends on the track and the ability for you to "provoke" oversteer on the VX (yes, it is easy, just different). FYI VX1 is ~5% quicker around a tight rectangular course with single left right flick.
VX vs EliseII - haven't compared - sorry.

Could be based on the elise, but I think it was independently developed, could be wrong, but as I'm only going to be racing them, I'll leave the more "tech" details to the engineers
Racing one?? Where/when Smokin?? They are planning to have 2 VXT's in the GT series next year - is it one of these?
Where ever your racing, pod over to www.vx220.org.uk beforehand and let us know - sure we can muster up some noisey support

DOH!! Just looked at your profile...
WOOHOO!! Big up Rod and best of luck for the season
Oh and Hawthorns
Any chance some of us VX220 owners can put a visit into your workshops and have a look around - i dont live far from Leicester??

Morning CC, glad you have found the info on the new team, but just to put the record straight, Colin Blower Motorsport are running the team, the first two cars being VX factory supported, and the next one or two may be ours. It may be that we all run under VX, that's yet to be decided. We are looking good for at least a four car team in GT cup for 2004, and as you may or may not know, John Thorne is deeply involved in the project, and will maintain a leading roll in the teams future. There's a lot more info to come out yet, so as and when we know what's what, we let you guy's know. These cars will be quick, very quick in fact, so stand by to be pleasantly shocked
