Can a VX turbo be fitted with a boot rack?

Folks, I require your assistance on behalf of a colleague who's about to purchase a VX Turbo as a retirement present. Basically a deal was struck with a main dealer which was to include the fitment of said rack, I assume an official Vauxhall accessory. However, the dealer has since rang back stating that the rack can't be fitted due to engine temps etc.
Several enquiries have been made with Vauxhall, however the two 'experts' consulted have differing opinions!
My colleague gets the impression that the dealer basically wants to increase his profit margin as they've now quoted a new price without the rack which doesn't equal one minus the other.
Therefore (finally!) can a boot rack be fitted? If so can you provide me with your source of information so that reference can be made to it. Thanking you in advance for any assistance.

I have a VX and a non-Vauxhall bootrack, can't see any reason why what I have couldn't be fitted to a VXT. Pics are available here
