Well I'm no longer thinking, but now have a VX220..... I bought the yellow Lightning version, mainly because I liked the colour but also because it came up at the right time. The hard top is a bonus that I wasn't looking for but no really like the look it gives the car.

We're all crazy, us.

Erm.

Dunno - possibly you have to be slightly mad to pick a Vauxhall over the Lotus?

Are you kidding, wake up in the morning log onto the VX220 internet site, stay online all day talking about VX220's, go out at lunch time just for a drive in your VX220, get home and just log on quickly to see what youve missed, weekend comes, you go on a VX220 club meet at the other end of the country, just to drive in a convoy and then park somewhere nice and take pictures and then drive all the way home.

Mad? me? na, just need to get out more, still there will be another VX220 meet somewhere in the country next weekend I guess.

Clives on the wind up..... both me and him have just sold our Ultima's so we are used to something with VERY similar handling but with over 500 & 400BHP respectivelly......

So, I bought a VX and what is clive getting.... a mini!
(Ok it will be 300bhp+ and 200kgs lighter than the VX with that Busa engine)

With the advent of street language (eg "that is one bad set of wheels yo mo-fo pimpin' bitch!"), it is easy for us oldies are getting confused between the meanings of words....

I would take a guess at "mad" meaning ""sad"??

Know what you mean Gerry, its been down all weekend, as a sponsor I'm getting a little bit pissed off now that the site never appears to be there, and when is the last time you saw my banner advert?

Yeah, site's been down since Saturday evening. Looks like an internal database error - there's very little info available on the error code. I'm not sure who manages the database - whether it's our own database server, or hosted by another company. Still bloody annoying...I want to bitch about my clutch return spring going
Can't wait to see if my local dealer says they can't order the spring without checking the problem first. £5 in petrol for a 50p spring?

Wayne - you should talk to Thorney about how the ad banners are rotated. I have seen your one quite a bit recently, but I'm not sure quite how it works. It seems to me that when I open the site, I see the same banners for pretty much the whole session, so sometimes I don't see your one for days, other times it's just about the only one I do see. Ideally, each topic I go to should re-request the ad banner...so if they're rotated, or randomly selected, I shouldn't keep seeing the same one.

I usually see a good selection of banners, to be honest. I assume that they're presented randomly, rather than in rotation - it's certainly be easiest from a coding point of view.

Also - I'm missing the site!

Congrats Andy on the Lightning and a fun car. I went the other way, from VX N/A with track exhaust and air-injection to the GTR, albeit factory built.

I had a lot of fun with the VX and wish it was still around. It is a much better machine to drive more often. I also really like the optical throttle and wish the Ultima had this.

I had my VX repainted from silver (including hardtop) to pearlecent dark-green/yellow and darkened the windows slightly. Since I drove it a lot to Prague, I put Skoda badges front and back over the Vaxhaull badges. I started so many neat little discussions on the way, but sadly the Picador team was unimpressed at each service.

By the way, I recommend the Picador garage near Southampton -- albeit not knowing where you are located.

Weather is getting right for road trips and you will definitely do financially better in the petrol department, although with the smaller tank you will still be stopping along side your Ultima friends!

I found my VX backend skipping during highspeed cornering, which was OK once you knew what it was doing.

The Lightning has the dark plastic around the front windscreen, which I like. I replaced my silver for the black at a cost, I think, of around £300, which included a new windscreen. I looked better like the Lightning though.

Have fun, Robert
