Tell me what i need, please

I fancy learning the GP circuits, SPA, The 'ring etc through playing a driving/racing game. (just for interest rather than planning to drive them all myself)
What is the best game for this, and what game system, wheel/pedal choice etc would you recommend.
This would be connected to a 52" 3D TV, and i usually sit about 15 feet away. The children have a wii which isn't used - would this do the job?
What other cool games should i consider?
Thanks for your help

You might need a few games to cover all the circuits, but a PS3 will fit the bill, a combination of F1:2010, Shift 2 and Gran Turismo 5 will cover most of the big circuits. Then you'll want to look into getting a wheel and pedal set along with something to mount them to.
I've currently got a Logitech G27 for sale which has barely been used, PM me if you're interested.

Xbox 360 with F1:2010 & Forza Motorsport 3
This. But I flogged Forza 3 - just too fiddly. F1:2010 is epic. I don't use a wheel - my thumbs are amazing though....you can ask anyone.
Other games...CoD Blops of course!

Other stuff, run the box through a surround system to get the best sound.
Also I believe some games can run in 3d - I know Blops has an option for that on the Xbox.
