I'm feeling a bit left out being the only silent one in the lobby (plus it's a real pain typing messages using the controller), so I'd best get meself a headset. Don't really want to spend megabucks, so I am thinking of something like the tutle beach x11 or Orb gx1. Any opinions/experiences/advice?
You wouldn't happen to be Rooster on Forza 3 would you...? If not ignore that...
Re: headsets, for either Xbox or PS3 I personally find both the official Sony/MS units are perfectly ample without the need for Turtle Beach, however if you are into FPS then I have heard that the Turtle Beach headsets do provide you with an audio advantage

Do not get Turtle Beach X11s.
I really wish I'd spent that bit more and got a nicer pair.
Sound quality from the X11s is fine but their functionality is attrocious...
Which bit are you refering to? Muting the mike while racing is a pain, but apart from that I have no complaints...I really wish I'd spent that bit more and got a nicer pair.

As for those only being useful when playing FPS games, I guess that is only valid if you have good speakers as standard. I can't drive without them on Forza now, as I can't hear the tyres properly otherwise! It is quite shocking when I go back to normal s

Yeah instead of improving my headset I opted for this set up, hence why for me the standard headset is ample - Forza sounds damn goood.... Fair enough, I got the headset partly because my girlfriend doesn't like to listen to me play Fallout while she's reading or something

If you've got a great big pair of Turtle Beach ones on how the hell do u hear the TV?
?Not quite sure I understand your question - the proper headsets (i.e. not the crap ones that come with the XBox) are headphones too, so you get game sound and chat pumped through the same channel - no need to have the TV speakers on.

At the risk of sounding pedantic: different channels, same speakers (in the headset). Not quite sure I understand your question - the proper headsets (i.e. not the crap ones that come with the XBox) are headphones too, so you get game sound and chat pumped through the same channel - no need to have the TV speakers on.
Public information service, incase anyone was looking at the PS3 stereo 7.1 headset.
Sony announces Wireless Stereo Headset for the PlayStation 3, supports 7.1 surround sound for games
It looked great until I read this bit...
The surround sound feature will not work with Blu-ray movies though.
Looking at the Orb's & X11's.
Which are better?
I'm looking to invest in a pair for myself & a set for my brothers birthday next week.
Currently using a standard Xbox one which has no foam on it (dog ate it) & it's superglued in the middle so i'm due a new one!
I also no longer have 5.1 SS anymore as i donated it to the GF's lounge!
