Is there an accepted route to buying games cheaply

I'm wondering if I'm missing out on buying current X box and PC games cheaper than I'm doing at the moment.

Where do you guys tend to buy your games?

I only really buy games from ebay (when they get to sub-£10), unless it's one which I'm desperate for on release - in that case, all bets are off, I might even go into the shop to get it, if I'm that desperate. More likely Amazon or Play though.

PC games? I'd say Steam, if you're buying them.

See steam is good, but I also found out GAME has their own downloader on their website. Pretty much the same as steam, but usually cheaper andless hassle

I tend to just go on Google shopping and search for the game, more often then not if it can be bought cheaper it will be listed on there.

Failing that I guess Ebay is good but I don't use it as it's to tempting to look for car parts at the same time.

I rent as part of my LoveFilm account usually, although i've just found Steam and i'm loving it.

I rarely pay full price for any game as i will wait a couple of months after release. Amazon, thehut.com, Play.com and shopto.net often sell very recent games with a decent discount for short periods. Certainly much better deals than Gamestation etc..

Shopto.net for brand new games, tend to work out cheapest. Don't buy second hand games, but the GAME, gamestation shops etc only seem to knock a fiver off for second hand, which I think is a joke as they are always scratched.

After doing a Lovefilm free month trial, I'm tempted to take it up full time for £6 a month or whatever and not actually buy any more games, but just rent. Over a year it works out at £72, but that's the same as buying 2 new games a year, which I do anyway, but with renting I can get rid of them and try something different.
