"GTA V is on its way. The sequel to the best-selling GTA IV has been pegged for a 2012 release, with sources at the game’s creator Take-Two telling Gamespot that a launch next year is “pretty likely.”

While details remain scarce, the insiders were bold enough to claim that GTA V is, “…the big one,” and that development is “well under way.” Word is that Take-Two and Rockstar are already finalising last details such as mini-games.

Where GTA V is set is still not clear. Recent tittle tattle has suggested the follow-up is likely to be based in an LA-like city, building on the California-themed success to the ace GTA San Andreas."

I loved San Andreas, can't wait for this one bounce.

Doh, I was more hoping a return to vice city! Still it is good news though as I love all of the GTA games, IV is my most played PS3 game by far, I'll include bogt in that though!

This means nothing until Rockstar release info. It's just speculation at the moment.

I loved the sheer scale of San Andreas, and the variety of terrain. Hopefully we will see more of that.

Wasn't IV meant to be "the big one" as well?

Awesome. I think the GTA series has to be one of a very small amount of series in which every game in it is spot on. I have loved and wasted many many hours in every single GTA game.. Perfection!

Can't wait.

They do all tend to be "the big one" with the GTA series. I wonder what they'll do to move it along this time though - and also how many discs it will come on (LA Noire is 3 discs on the 360, and I'm guessing GTA will be bigger)

I hope they bother to optimise the PC version properly this time. GTA4 run like an absolute pig unless you had a very powerful machine.

The sense of humour needs to make a return. Lacking a lot in GTA 4.

Missions need more variation. Driving somewhere to shoot an enemy gang , or placing a car rigged with explosives somewhere gets tedious very quickly.

The problem with the humour is that it got a bit too real. When the graphics were still a little cartoony it was ok do do silly things (R/C vehicles with machine guns for example) but that would have just been daft.

Is XBox not due for blueray soon?

I had heard suggestion that some multi-platform games had been restricted in data size due to the lack of BR on XBox.

Speaking of which, San Andreas is on offer on Steam at the moment for £2.75.

Would like to see some of the features from SA returned.

Jetpacks , Hydra jump jet , Car modding garages etc...

Yep - I ended up just taking Taxis everywhere in the end. I sit in traffic in real life, I don't want to do the same in a game.

I'd really like to see a retutn to the GTA3 mafia style of game with lots of gags from goodfellas, donnie brasco, sopranos etc etc.

That's how I roll.

GTA Vice City was my favourite by far.

The whole, Scarface - start with nothing, end up in a mansion collecting money from my car showroom and strip clubs was fantastic to me.

Loved it!

I want to see GTA 3000AD or something. Grand Theft Auto set in a kind of Fifth Element/Judge Dredd style future would be flipping excellent.
