PSN Dis-connecting issues

I'm wondering if anybody has experienced this problem or can help in any way.

Since the PSN came back online (not sure if it's coincidental or not) I've been being dis-connected from the PSN virtually every evening I'm on, this could happen after ten minutes of initially signing in or after a couple of hours - but it always happens (for example last night I was signed in playing GT5 for a couple of hours when it all of a sudden started signing me out for the next twenty minutes! ).

I can sign back in straight away and it makes no difference if any other devices are using the internet, it signs me out anyway.

Has anybody else had this problem, or does anybody know any way to fix it?.

I'm on Sky Broadband (if that makes any difference).

G there are a lot of forums on this on gtp

Advice on there states clear cache memory (in GT5 options) before an important race and then reboot PS3.

Also found this:

I had this everytime, I knew my router had uPNP enabled but when I tried testing it via the XMB, my ps3 said I didnt have uPNP enabled...

I changed my router settings to disable the DMZ.

I had set up a static IP address for my PS3 and put this under DMZ hoping it would stop any issues exactly like this....

Anyway its disabled now and it's working fine!

log on to you router settings (see portforward.com for help), ensure uPNP is enabled and check you have nothing under DMZ.

Found another one:

Well, these are my tip:

1. Run wire, not wireless.
2. Clean system cache in gt5
3. Open ports on router and give ps3 static ip, http://portforward.com/
4. Make sure no other people abusing your network, like downloading "stuff".
5. Give this tip to your allies as well.

It also depends on your router, some brands works better than others. I have a 130 dollar router (provided by my network provider), but it performs worse than my 40 dollar one.....

Cheers Dice. The problem doesn't seem to be just GT5 anymore (when it use to dis-connect me from the lobby) but just the PSN/my internet in general (it signs me out on any game). I'll have a look into the settings on the router.

Mine always used to do this on Mw2 if you remember? I was wireless then. Since I moved it hasn't done it once, I have also been wired since then. It may be coincidence but its food for thought. No chance of running a cable?

Yeah I remember now you mention it Dan.

I tried plugging the router into the socket upstairs a couple of weeks ago(the only way I can connect the PS3 via wire realistically is upstairs) so I could run a ethernet cable to the PS3 from the router but it wouldn't connect to the internet .

As soon as the router was plugged back in downstairs it would connect fine!. I reset the router and changed the PS3 settings to wired etc. Even the laptop wouldn't connect when the router was upstairs.

I'll have another go tonight/tomorrow.

Power line adapters mate, the will let you run wired. Ask Ross he had issues and I tld him about these things, he bought the not had an issue since

Have you considered/tried home plugs?
