The PS3 'Scene'
Discussion
I know there's a couple of you on here that are into the 'scene' as it were, so I was wondering what was happening out there at the moment?
When the PS3 firmware was exploited, I bought a PS3 with a broken Blu-Ray drive off Ebay just in case. I'm not interested in pirating games, but I would love to put a 500gb hard disk in this 'development' PS3 that I have, install some cool custom firmware on it, and fill it with films and MP3's to use as a media centre. I have my main PS3 that I won't be messing with.
Is this possible yet? I've tried looking on a few of the forums but, well, they're a bit difficult to navigate through all the crap!
Cheers

Sorry Guys, few beers, not being clear.
I'd like to be able to use it as a DLNA server too, so that I can stream the media that I put on it to all my other devices. And the possibility of running homebrew on it would be nice. Like I say, I'm not interested in piracy, I already have enough games that I don't have time to play!

It will depend on your PS3 firmware whether or not you can run homebrew etc. 3.55 is the best version to do it on so make sure that you don't update the PS3 you purchased.I'd like to be able to use it as a DLNA server too, so that I can stream the media that I put on it to all my other devices. You can run a DLNA server on it if you install Linux on the PS3 and there are plenty of homebrew applications etc that you can find to install on it.
I know your not bothered about piracy but it would be a ball ache anyway seeing as PS3 games are upto 50gig
