I'm 33 and haven't played video games last nine years.
What's new there?

I can only recommend Battlefield 2 which is quite old now but has the advantage of not requiring an amazing PC and not attracting kids running stupid bots and screaming at you via the VOIP system.

Oh, yeah and it's about £10 for the original and expansion packs!

Another shout for BF2. Fantastic game. Infact, all of them are worth getting.

I'm hoping BF2 will be enjoyable once I've finally built a no budget gaming system! It's can be a lot cheaper than £10 though, I got it for £1 at the car boot recently!

Only problem I'm having is trying to get Special Forces to work. I've googled and it seems like a complete uninstall and reinstall of the entire game is required plus editing the registry which is frankly an idiotic suggestion.

What do you like? What are you intending to play on - PS3, handheld console, PC, xbox?

I'm deeply fond of Ratchet & Clank - lighthearted adventure-shooter, full of ridiculous puns, lovely graphics.

Also replaying Oblivion IV at the moment - it's a bit aged now but it's still an outstanding game, hugely complex, massive gameworld, really flexible for different styles of play.

You might end up with a long list of games - a lot has happened in the last 9 years

If you haven't really followed games since you stopped playing, you should be blown away by anything...

LA Noire is meant to showcase graphics, COD/Battlefield are the mainstays for online shooters, GT5/Forza for more serious online racers...
