PS3 iPlayer update.

Just started iPlayer and it downloaded an update.

Rather than open a browser it seems to have its own program with a different method of navigation as well.

Not sure about itv or 4od as i'm watching the apprentice, however it would make sense for them to be updated as well.

I wonder why they decided to change it now.

Apparantly its been rewritten to make the most of HTML5 to allow porting to other platforms easily, its just timing that means its hits PS3 first.

tried it last night for the first time and found the interface to be rather clunky, difficult to navigate and far from intuitive ~ e.g cant exit by pressing 0 , or move a cursor. Used 4od straight after, which used to be worse, but found it easier. Ill give it a few more goes but it doesnt seem a great update.

Not used it myself but the misses says it's not as easy to navigate around, the search isn't as good and the way it loads the programs is a bit shoddy. Things always seem a little strange if the user interface has been changed/updated & is probably a case of getting used to it again.

The new style moves from one option to another rather than the browser style of move a cursor, it is a bit odd, although it is easier to navigate pause and the timeline when its showing the program.

Anyone else lost the iplayer and 4od options on the XMB after the latest system update?

Nevermind. I updated Home an for some reason that fixed the missing TV/video services option in the XMB.
