Just caught this article over at PCGamer.

A new game in the Counterstrike series? There have been whispers in the ether for several years now.....but could this finally be the hard evidence that a 'new' Counterstrike game is indeed in the offing!

Will be following this with interest.

hehe Yes it was somewhat cheat ridden after it had been around a while. What made me stop playing was the number of times I pumped a full clip into someone at short range only to have them turn round and kill me with a couple of shots.

I moved onto BF2142 (or whatever it was called) which was pretty good for honest play.

I love CS used to be in a couple of "clans" and competed in ED leagues (enemy down). Never got bored of it, But had to stop playing it as it took too much of my life!! Can't look at the link for my own health.

I dunno, strikes me as weird that they'll touch CSS after so many years; just seems wrong.

There is a smooth patch worn into my worktop from my wrist... That's how many hours I put into cs 1.5!! I played it from beta. I cannot face getting a pc for this...

1.3 was best haha!

Although i think they will have to be very careful with where they go with the game. CSS remains popular because of its ability to be used easily in leagues. With maps/mods not difficult to produce. If they go down the line of COD/BF they will be in for a shock and will be killing a brand imo.

If anything CSS needs to get put onto the new engine valve have, then to focus on how communitys/clans and leagues can carry on using it for years ahead. For example COD4 is still the chosen COD league/professional choice because its much more open.

Spent hours on Dust and Office on CS:Source so looking forward to this on XBox. It's going to be a download from the Live arcade and should be out 21st August.

I'm pretty sure that this isn't happening now. Something to do with the updating of the game. Therefore, cross platform will be pc and mac only, I think.

I'd imagine Console Vs Any-player-with-a-mouse-and-keyboard wouldn't be a fair fight wink

I suspect that is the real reason. I see no reason why the maps couldn't be the same a Ross platforms.
