Sorry if this has been covered in another thread, but the search is still broken for me.
I've always been put off playing driving games because using a pad feels very unintuitive (although I did enjoy Project Gotham Racing 2), but Forza 4 is looking amazing and to get the best out of it I'm thinking it would be worth buying a wheel.
I've been eyeing up the MS wheels on ebay because I've heard good things about them and they're not too expensive.
I'm guessing that the majority of PHers who play Forza / GT use a wheel so it'd be good to know whether the steering wheels are much better than using a pad, whether the Xbox wheel is any good or suggestions for another wheel if it's naff??

I have the old original xbox wheel, got it for 60 quid off ebay, hardly used condition. First wheel i have bought and it totally transformed forza for me. The force feedback is great, you can feel the car going light, the back end stepping out, gives you so much more feeling as to what the car is doing.
Apparently the the fanatec ones are the mutt's nuts in terms of build and functionality, but cant justify 300 quid for a wheel myself!
Would be good to have a clutch and shifter, but that's more than my xbox cost me!
if price is a factor then get the MS wheel as it's surprisingly good, if it isnt a concern then get the fanatec...

I've got the MS wheel and its been great. As said above, it totally transforms games.
F1 is amazing with the wheel. I've used the cheaper mad catz and Logitech wheels and have found the wheels to small but the MS one seems about right.
I got lucky with mine and picked up a "faulty" one on ebay that just needed a power pack. Think I paid £20 all in!
Would love a Fanatec but can't justify the money, would also love one of the nicer Logitech ones but they are not compatible with the xbox.
ETA There's nothing quite like opposite locking with a wheel whilst going round the Nurburgring in something manic. I don't use the pad for any driving games any more.

Force feedback is when you turn the wheel, you still get the rumble as usual too though. Also you will feel rumble strips through the steering when you go over them anyway.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
