Turned up this morning (Thanks Gameplay), seems like a really good game so far, certainlty something a bit different.

I have not bought a single game this year then from september onwards we have in quick quccession:

GoW3
F1 2011
Rage
Forza 4
MW3
Colonial Marines (Feb 2012)

Struggling to find the time!

Has anyone played the PC version yet ? Bloody hell - the graphics are fantastic until you move about ! The they tear, or stutter, bits of things like unopened doors suddenly become see-through. And texture render maybe a second or so after you look at them. It's ste.

There has been a lot of problems with the PC version.

Kotaku has a sort-of guide to try and resolve some of the issues.

I'll have a look at that, thanks. There is also a new driver for ATI cards which has just been released today ( I'm downloading it now ).

It's at http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU122A...

Wow this game is pretty. I've enabled the GPU thing and forced Vsync on my card (GTX260M so not all that special) and it;s running really nicel. Now and again I get that tearing but the GPU piece made a significant difference IMO.

Fecking lovely looking game and good fun. I don't even mind the lack of a "Story" as to why you just grab the gun and go killing st!

Blimey I expected more of a thread than this. Thought it was supposed to be the Next Big Thing.

While I am Very Very Very disappointed at Carmack for the PC debacle, and it's only mostly running ok, there is a very good game underneath it.

I'm only in the beginning third of the game but the weapons, weapons upgrades, vehicle combat and baddie AI all seem a step forward from other similar games.

I''ve heard talk of the game being a mere 14 hours of gameplay or something, with no decent online it seems not to be the next big thing!

The graphics do look great. Luckily, I already had the beta nVidia drivers in order to play the Battlefield 3 Beta. Once I'd forced vsync on a custom profile in the nvidia drivers, all was good.

As to gameplay, I find it to be a less charming version of Borderlands. I'm still in the early stages - just freed some bloke from prison and about to go back into the Dead City.

My bro has just completed it in 3 days. Graphically slick, interesting bad guys to kill, a fun shoot em up.

Looks a lot like Borderlands from my quick go. Someone suggested its like Borderlands and Fallout have had a baby. But, definitely more Borderlands, and much less like Fallouts.

If it was anything like Fallout i'd be all over it as i love that game.

It's just a prettier borderlands imho.

Looks great, and I don't get any tearing issues on my pc.

Not sure it's deep enough to keep me playing though.

It's fecking great! The graphics are stunning, the combat is fast, fluid and fun and the quests are nice. The RPG elements are very lightweight, this is, at heart, a classic twitch shooter. It's very refreshing to play something so combat focused! The guns are unbelieveably weighty too. It's a real joy, I just wish I could dedicate more time to it as I am currently engrossed in Dark Souls! But Rage is certainly shaping up to be fantastic.

You appear to have missed Battlefield 3 off your list. Which could be the only game you need for the rest of the year..........

I bought Rage a couple of days ago, it has Vault Tec bobbleheads from Fallout 3 in it smile

It's alright, very similar to Borderlands with a hint of Fallout 3 to it. So far it has been very liner though, I expected a more exploration.

I've been playing it now for since it came out.

Once you download the AMD drivers and patch the game ( and then force vsync ) I reckon the graphics are amazing. And I'm only running on a HD4890 @ 1680 x 1050. But I get a steady 60 fps.

The more you play it, the better the story gets. I actually know the guy who wrote the story and I'll admit I was expecting more.

I didn't think the story was up to much myself.

Graphics were nice and after patching, I didn't suffer too much from texture popping.

The missions were good and the combat really was frenetic and fun. But it was much too short.

I'd give it 7/10

I've just arrived in Wellspring and got myself kitted out in the Crimson Elite armour this afternoon. It's getting pretty engrossing now, though I'm not wild about the guns being added to the races.
