The "Bring back TOCA" thread
Discussion
If anyone on here used to play the Codemasters TOCA games, hopefully they will agree that they were fantastic games, and I particularly enjoyed driving round the UK tracks featured in the game, particularly Thruxton, Oulton Park, Snetterton and especially Knockhill.
I believe it's about time this game was updated for the PS3 and XBOX 360, mainly so I can drive on UK tracks in a game again :-)
Presumably, the only way to achive this is to let Codemasters know that an update of this game is in demand. I have signed up to the Codemasters forum and found a "Bring back TOCA" thread and so I have added my thoughts to this thread. I hope some others on Pistonheads are like-minded and follow my lead.

A decent game of this type of racing would be great to have again.
Does Grid 2 not do something similar though?
(Don't know as I have never played it)
That's probably because there isn't one...yet. Does Grid 2 not do something similar though?

I use to love the TOCA games, they were absolutely brilliant.
I for one would definitely be buying it if they ever decided to re-make it.
GRID was good but nowhere near as good as the TOCA series.
Racing in a pack, hoping not to lose it on the long sweepers of Thruxton was something of a gaming watershed for me. I would to have BTCC cars and Uk tracks in a good racing game again. Would be great now as the BTCC fields is so strong at the moment.
Jason Potato crying about the Turbo cars should be in as well.

Grid has little or no real UK tracks in it though, and this is what I really want in the game.
Yeah only has the old donny circuit, was a great game though especially the on line racing in the formula renaultsIm not overly impressed with f1 '10&'11 so hoping grid 2 will restore my confidence in codemasters.

k yeah would love a new one of these. IMO best one was Toca 2, such a step up from the original (although the original did have a basic charm) with all the different cars available (from memory Jag XJ220s and TVRs), and that great test track, spent hours going around all the different roads! Would love a modern version.

Errr, I've still got TOCA. It never went anywhere. And you only need a real games machine to play it on (pretty much any PC from the last 10 years or so) instead of one of those idiot boxes
I think I have a pc version too, somewhere, but I suspect the graphics might look a bit "gritty" compared to the high def games on a 40" screen we are now used to.
Also, my pc has a 17" monitor and its in an upstairs bedroom. A location and screen size that is something of a shortcoming.

It may be that it is TOCA 2 that I have the best memories of. I owned both games and so the two are somewhat blurred together in my memory.

Seems to me you've realised something's lacking in the "pretty" games
You forget about the graphics when you're really immersed
You may have a point.. I recall being probably the most engrossed in a driving game playing TOCA around Brands or Knockhill in the rain, and the concentration levels required to keep it all together were immense.

For me, the only other game in recent times to get anywhere close to that feeling was NFS Shift. I am surprised hardly anyone else rates that game. Once you sort the parameters out for the steering wheel and switch off the driving aids, it is a wonderful game. I need to get back to playing Shift 2. Not played any racing games since the spring..

I agree, it IS a great game when you know how (or bother) to tune/set-up the cars properly.

Mt.Panorama (Bathurst) is especially epic IMO, and of course you can try your hand at Nordschliefe at night.
