Hi All,

Looking for some help, I seem to be having great problems connecting to XBL in my house. Basically, everytime I sign in I get the following message - "A problem occured while singing in. Please try again bla bla bla. So, grabbed the Xbox and headed next door to use their internet, straight away I was online no questions asked. So, it must be my router - does anyone know how I can fix it? There was talk of "opening the channels and using NAT" although I've not got a clue what this means / how to do it?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Sorry me again.

I've just had the following -

Your console is connnected to the internet but can't contact Xbox Live.

Your router or ISP may be blocking access to Xbox Live.

Make sure port 3074 is open on your firewall.

I am open my router settings just now but no idea what I am to do next !

Try this status checker and see whether you can get it working.

Have you tried removing your wireless connection and then searching for it again and re-adding?

Yup.

It's not the internet connect that it's the problem I think it's the router blocking something...?

What about your NAT status and settings? What does the console state when you do a network test? If the NAT status is Open, then there shouldn't be any problems in connecting, providing it can find and connect to the router?

Is it a new router? Just seems odd that it has suddenly prevented the console from accessing it. Are you able to connect to it via your laptop/computer did you say?

Sorry mate I am really not good at computers... What should I be looking for in my NAT status and settings? When I do the console state it works fine but just can't connect to XBL.

No worries! I'm at work right now, but from memory, if you scroll across on your My Xbox tab to the end, and find System Settings, there should be a Network Settings option, and a further option to Test Connection. Run this and see where the problem occurs.

It does sound like a router connection problem, but do this first to see how far it gets. If it connects and accesses the router, it should bypass that stage and move on to verifying XBOX Live. If it doesn't, its a problem at the router.

For gaming online, the NAT status will need to be open to allow you to connect fully and without connection issues.

Yup, says XBL is the problem mate.

Connected to the internet but can't to XBL frown
