Joining the XBOX revolution....

Ok, so this Christmas we are joining the XBOX revolution with a Kinect setup.
We have a Wii, and it is hammered by the whole family. However, I have never really been impressed by FPS games on the Wii, and an XBOX will give me a chance to return to some decent gaming (one the kids are in bed!)
Now, I haven't played FPS games for a very long time... But if it helps you judge what I have been used to, I was a huge fan of Doom/Doom2 and also Quake on the PC, but the last game I got totally immersed in was Half Life. (Like I said, it has been a LONG time!)
Any recommendations for what I should ask santa for as a stocking filler for myself?

Battlefield 3
As a bit of an induction, why not buy the Orange Box set from Amazon etc? Contains all Half Life titles in, including Half Life 2 and the add ons, and for a console game, the level of detail is brilliant.
That way you can gradually get back into or get used to console gaming, and I'd then recommend going for Gears of War or Battlefield 3 to give you more challenging gameplay.
All depends how much time you anticipate spending on XBOX Live, as IMO the £40 a year is well worth it if utilised. However, if you're going to play online maybe once a week or two, it may just serve its purpose for single player campaigns.
