I've got a Logitec G25 which I've had for ages now but found out that it won't work with Forza 4, or in fact any Xbox game.. So I'm thinking of sticking it on Ebay and getting hold of a new one. Is the Fanatec CSR the only one available? It seems a little over priced, and a bit of a faff to buy as you have to get it in bits. There must be a simple solution, but retaining a good deal of realism??

There are two Fanatec wheels which can be used on Xbox which is the CSR and GT2 and they are brining out a CSR Elite wheel next year.

Fanatec is the way forward.
There are 3 possible wheels, the CSR, the GT2 and the 911 Turbo S (which you'd have to get second hand now).
You'll also need pedals, Fanatec do 4 different sets with ranging prices.
You'll also need a stand, I use the Fanatec Rennsport stand personally.
Only other optional choice is shifters, Fanatec do 2 different types.

There are reports that the CRS elite wheel will be £500 where as the CRS is about £250 and they don't include pedals. I have been reading that with the Elite you can change the wheel style, so you can have a standard wheel or a F1 style wheel plus others. I think the CSR wheel, with elite pedals with the kit to flip the pedals and the Rennsport stand is the way to go.

Taken off Fanatec website "First pedal set to offer optional Inversion Kit. Owners can invert all or just the pedals they prefer to better fit their driving style." I think the kit is about £50. Instead of pushing down to the floor you push on the pedals like in a normal car so at a slight angle if that makes sense

Basically, the CSR Elite is a much higher-end piece of kit, more designed for serious sim racers than casual console racers. The mechanism is completely different inside to anything Fanatec have offered so far, in that instead of using a geared system is uses a worm drive system with belts, which supposedly offer far more accurate force feedback and eliminate any of the slack you may experience with a geared wheel. The system is alot more specialised and normally only used on Frex and ECCI wheels, systems which retail for £1000+, so actually pretty good value when you compare what its competitors retail for, just a question of how seriously you take your racing . Well I'm hoping to start my (real) racing career next year if I finally get the car finished in time so I'd like it to be more of a sim if possible so I can get a bit more practice. I've got floor mount pedals in the Tuscan so I'll probably leave them as they are but not sure I really need the full bucket seat and stuff so the stand you mention coupled with the Elite wheel up against the sofa should work nicely.. Any ideas on a release date? I'll probably get the adapter in the meantime then and keep the G25, then sell it when the Elite wheel comes out, though that is a fair old wedge for a video game when you add the wheel + pedals + shifter + stand so I'll give it a bit of thought I guess in the interim.

What car you going to be racing? Tuscan? I would say the best wheel to get is the CSR, elite pedals, shifter set and stand. Edited by Jamesd49 on Friday 28th October 14:56

Forza doesnt feel sim-like with a wheel. It feels like you're playing a console game with a wheel. Try PC for more realistic sims, but still, no comparison to actually doing it .

Perhaps you need a better wheel? Forza 3+Fanatec was pretty good training for doing the real thing at Road America in my experience.Try PC for more realistic sims, but still, no comparison to actually doing it .
Yeah I have pc games for sim stuff, but I want a wheel that I can use with both because forza is just good fun to play, and much better with a wheel than a controller.. Where do you buy the adapter from for the g25 by the way? Straight from Fanatec? Does it retain all of the functions and work properly?
