Battlefield 3 or MW3?

Right, it's payday and I fancy a new game. But which one? Should I get Battlefield 3 now, or wait until Tuesday and get Modern Warfare 3?

I have battlefield 3 and it is excellent, I will probably cue for MW3 on the 7th

MW3 will be like paintball...frantic and fun
BF3 is A lot more tactical...long games, with team work and tactics being essential. slower pace but still fun and very rewarding

I enjoy both types tbh
I have BF3 and will have MW3 this time next week.

For me its going to be MW3, not that I dislike BF3 but I'm not around in the evenings to play with the PH clan and therefore play the more team orientated game.

BF3 for me, it's incredible.

I do have MW3 hardened edition arriving on Tuesday however I am not excited about it in the slightest.

Thats not the case at all! You will get the BF3 lot on here and thats all they can say about COD (y2Bland and a couple of others dont count as they have both and can make a true comparison).

The usual comeback from the COD lot is BF3 you run around LOOKING for someone to shoot (it is a first person SHOOTER after all) only to get shot by a camping TW*T hid in a bush somewhere focused on the objective and nothing else. Then you either respawn 3 miles away from the action and spend the next 3 days running forward or you spawn on top of a team mate only to get weasted agian.

As for COD not being tactical, well thats utter b0ll0cks! The PS3 Pistonheads lot get VERY tactical when it comes to games like demolition. Its often down to the player, do you just run into the fight or do you try and guess where the enermy is going to be coming from. You can do this on any FPS game, not just in batlefield!

I personally will be getting MW3 on the 7th and then battlefield at Christmas (got to see what all the fuss is about).

As much as I like battlefield3 , MW3 will be my hook once it comes out.

They are different games and each have their merit, thats why I will play both

How about if like me you prefer single player campaigns with a bit of story (mainly down to my lack of talent at multi, and limited time to join in with friends for regular matches)?

I quite liked BLOPS, but preferred MW2. Never played a BF game as I thought they were multi-player only.

The suggestion that COD is a lesser developed game than BF3 is utter bullsh^t.

I've been playing FPS since Doom, I absolutely love them. Quake 1/2/3 etc. MW2 was, IM(H)O a staggering on-line game - and I'm about as hardcore a fan of these things as you'll get.

If you think COD/MW is a watered down, stupid version of the BF games, you're not playing them right. End of.

BTW I love BF too. Both are great fun, I'm just sick of idiots calling MF a stupid game (sure the same people will argue the toss over the North / South divide)

Rant over. For now.

Buy both, or wait for BF3 to come down in price (MF3 wont for years yet)

I suspect neither has too much to offer people like us. BF3's single player campaign gets mediocre reviews - not least for trying too hard to be like MW. I suspect MW3's campaign will be relatively short again.

I'll probably pick up MW3 at some point - most likely a second hand copy once the price drops a bit - as I enjoyed the story in MW, and to a lesser extent MW2, but I'm not salivating at the prospect of it this time around.

(Skyrim is by far the more anticipated of next week's releases for me....)

The Modern Warfare campaign will be better, the BF3 one was mediocre, however it won't be very long as mentioned.

If you can spare some time for co-op, then MW3 will likely be the better choice here, Spec Ops was great in the last game and will only be honed further in this one, having tried a couple of the co-op offerings in BF3, they're not something I'd write home about.

For a single player experience next week, Skyrim really is the only sensible choice.

Finished it at the weekend and the disappointing thing is that all of the freedom and scope of the brilliant multiplayer is nowhere to be seen, instead you get a tightly scripted sequence of missions which tries too hard to be CoD (the way in which the story unfolds is far too reminiscent of Black Ops). It involves a ridiculous amount of quick-time events (stabbing a rat anyone?) and chucks characters in for no apparent reason (exactly how is the female jet co-pilot really relevant to the story?) other than to add in a bit of variety.

It's a game of two halves, one is excellent and the other is unnecessary filler.
