Zelda Skyward Sword
Discussion
Anyone else dusting off their Wii to play this?
I've ordered my copy of the limited edition with the motion-plus enabled controller thrown in. It's supposed to be the game that the controller always promised, with fantastically accurate recreation of your sword swipes and quite possibly the best Zelda game yet.
It's the only reason I've held onto my Wii for all this time and it does seem fitting that a Zelda game will be the first and last game I buy for the system.

I have pre ordered it, to "play with the children" I've ordered my copy of the limited edition with the motion-plus enabled controller thrown in. looks great
I've ordered the Limited Edition set too - not least as I needed the Motion Plus bit anyway, and the LE controller had it built in.
Other than Fitness and Zumba for SWMBO, this is the first Wii game I have bought in the 2 1/2 years we've owned the console. I've never played Zelda before and bought it entirely on the recommendation of an evangelical long-time Zelda-fan friend. I'm not entirely sure what to expect!

They are all excellent, it wouldn't surprise me if you play this one, then get hold of the others.Other than Fitness and Zumba for SWMBO, this is the first Wii game I have bought in the 2 1/2 years we've owned the console. What's the playable age range for this. My kids are 6 and 10 and are currently working their way through Lego Harry Potter on the 360. Is Zelda likely to be too difficult for them ?
Cheers
Paul
They might need a hand with some of the more obtuse puzzles, think I started playing the Zelda games when I was about 10 or 11, so the older one would probably be fine.Cheers

Bigtime Zelda fan here.
Had the first one bought for me way back in the 80s, for a princely sum of £49.99, and loved it since.
Got a few Wii games but the most time I have notched on it is for Twilight Princess. SS is catching up. Have to say even though I do like a lot about the game, the slow intros and tedious repeating of fluff every-time you buy a potion is annoying
Also catching bugs pisses me off. Just upgraded to the big net so hopefully that helps but still haven't caught a firefly!

Having finally got around to trying this over Christmas, I have to say that it really didn't "grab" me at all. I hadn't played any of the Zelda games beforehand and I really only bought it because a friend - a long-time Zelda fan - raved about it.
I suspect that matters aren't helped by just how crap the resolution of the picture is on the Wii. I had bought a component cable in anticipation of trying Zelda but couldn't get it to display the picture. It carried the sound OK but no vision. But that's a different issue. Anyway, the crappy composite picture makes it look like you're watching via a layer of vaseline over the screen.
I admittedly only gave it 15 mins or so but I didn't find the control system especially intuitive either. I suspect that I'd gradually "get" it if I stick with it though.
Clicking through what seemed like interminable explanatory and expository text was also a bit jarring too - I guess Zelda is definately last generation in that regard, and I've just got too used to fully-voiced games.
I really REALLY want to like this game but I'm not sure I've got the time or inclination to persevere with it
