PS3 Stopped working
Discussion
Hi all,
A couple of weeks ago my PS3 stopped reading discs of any type, it doesn't even show them under the appropriate section in the menu.
I have restored it, changed the lens, checked all connections and cleaned it out but it still isn't reading any discs. Does anyone have any other suggestions? It is an original 80GB model.
Cheers
Liam

Does it not read DVDs?
If it reads no discs at all I'd say the controller board on the bluray has expired. Quite a rare failure, usually the bluray part of the drive fails and you remove the controller and replace the drive, thing is, the controller must stay with the original ps3. If the board is f
ked you have a really big problem! Off to Sony with it!

Have just double checked and it doesn't read any type of disc. Will Sony have an issue with the fact I have opened it up? Guessing not do to the age.
They don't normally have a problem unless the insides are all broken up! I'm not sure what they'll do mind but I don't think there are any DIY fixes that will work in your case.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
