I've had PSN+ for a couple of years now, so here's some thoughts.

It's not worth it for the game content / discounts etc. BUT, it gives you automatic updates. I set it to download updates between 4 and 6 AM and it switches on and downloads any patches for installed games and installs them, downloads and installs any system updates that are needed, syncs my trophies and uploads the game save files for games I have told it to backup.

This is worth every penny, my PS3 recently died and I lost nothing.

No more turning a game on that I haven't played for a little while and having to wait for it to download a patch.

Like I said, not worth it for the game content. But if you are wondering what content you get, here's a years and a half worth of "free" stuff.

And a whole load of minis that I'm not interested in. I think these are for the handhold consoles ? Here are a few that I grabbed, there were probably others but I didn't download them.

Babel King of Blocks
A Space Shooter for Two Bucks
OMG-Z

Also got GT5 DLC at reduced price. I also liked the Marvell Pinball game so bought a couple of DLC tables, got a discount on these as well.

I've renewed it for another year. Purely so I can get automatic backups.

Edited to show games I received up to February 2013

Also important to note, the games are only free as long as you have a PSN+ sub.

If you take out 3 months and download a free game then don't renew you lose the ability to play that game!

I am happy to have it just for backups and auto install of patches and updates.

Or alternatively just do what I do, and backup my data onto a USB stick.

The automatic updates... meh. 30 mins is not worth money to me, I don't care. It doesn't take long to update a game.

Something I've discovered regarding PSN+ today.

I had clicked on the Far Cry 2 1 hour trial but I didn't download and use it. Earlier this month Sony put Far Cry 2 out on the PSN network to download free for PSN+ subscribers. I clicked and downloaded this freebie, except I didn't.

You see, if you click on a trial and don't use it. It stays in your download list. You then can't download the game as a free game on PSN+. So when I thought I was downloading the full game for free (the free game I was entitled to) what I was actually downloading was the trial.

I played it last night and the trial ran out and now it wants me to pay £15 to unlock it, even though it should be free. I called Sony and they basically said tough luck.

So if you have PSN+ and you have any trials in your download list you haven't used up, it's worth downloading / installing / running and let them expire then if they become free to download you can get the free version.

Stupid system if you ask me.

They have changed the way the PSN+ works to try and make it more worthwhile if you are subscribing for the free games.

Free games this month:

Infamous 2
Renegade Ops
Motorstorm Apocalypse
Outland
Little Big Planet 2
Virtual Fighter 5 (Game of the Month)
Darksiders
Chime Super Deluxe
Warhammer 40k Space Marines
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD

From now on the game of the month will change monthly, obviously...

They will also be swapping out 2 games from that 10 and replacing them with a different 2 on a regular basis. So warhammer 40k and Chime will change to a different 2 games on 18th July 2012.

There's also going to be more Indie games.

There's a blog post that explains it better than I can here

Remember though! You can't sign up for 3 months and get those free games and let your sub expire. You only have access to the games as long as you pay!

Cool, cheers for the heads up. Will get downloading. I let my sub lapse for about a fortnight and got hit by about 10 patches! Got PSN + again after that.

Saints Row 2 and Lara Croft Guardian of Light added.

Lara Croft GoL is actually really good! I didn't expect to like it but it's a good game. It's Tomb Raider done Diablo style and it actually works!

Good mix of shooting, puzzles and loads of in game challenges. One of my top PSN games!

PS+ has been well worth it for me. The amount of games listed above, even of you pick and choose, is pretty good going for the yearly fee. Yes there was that thing with the accounts and taking the system down to fix it, but at least they gave out free games and extended the subscriptions as apology for it (silver linings and all that)

It's worth every penny and pays for itself within a month. I've bought very few games recently because it's so good

The free Vita game for February is Wipeout 2048. I had this when I bought the Vita, so I'll be trading in the game card and downloading the freebie digital version smile . I hovered over the buy button for sleeping dogs and F1 stars in the christmas offers. Glad I didn't buy them now, you can't trade in digital downloads hehe . I think I'm going to need a bigger card or a second card, 16GB isn't enough now PS+ is on Vita, and the backup/transfer to PS3 is a bit of a hassle every time I want to change games.

I've been playing bulletstorm, it's quite fun but I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it.
I have Crysis 2 downloaded and read for my next game and Motorstorm.

Great VFM in my opinion.
