Have you tried pulling all the connectors off the TV and putting them pack on? Could just be a dodgy connection if you've attached it to a connector not used for a while.

That's what I would have said too. Sounds more like a problem with the AV/Scart/HDMI cable you're using if it's giving you picture issues.

I'd do as Munter suggests and then if it isn't the cable, look at the pins on each end of the Scart/AV if using one, or perhaps change the socket you're using if you're using an HDMI cable. If you don't have a spare, then I'd then suggest looking at the picture/display settings on the console to make sure nothing has changed, before then investigating the console itself.

I had a issue similar to this with a launch elite 120gb, many years ago now but I remember it was a slow decline and I lost different colours until eventually all I had was different shades of green. Replaced under microsoft warranty from Germany and no problems with the replacement.

Hopefully just a dodgy lead though. Have You tried it in another socket?

I switched the hdmi lead to 'tv' mode all is fine except naff picture compared to the hd so looks like a new cable is needed.

Sounds like the gpu is giving you problems. They sometimes do some funky things before they finally give up and go red ring. you want to reflow the solder around the gpu and cpu using a hot air gun or similar, or follow the red ring repair guide at www.llamma.com
