Yeah I will get one, but not on 22nd feb when it comes out, I will wait 6 months first.

It came out in japan a couple of months back, a market thats really into portable gaming, and sales have been down on expected, and there's been a lot of problems with issues that need software updates to resolve.

The tech is amazing, sony have put every bit of hardware into the machine, but what worries me is the price of games. I can afford them but its the principle, i-phone games can be had for just 69p (realracing2) although no where as advanced, but some vita rrp are 50+quid!

What excites me is remote play with all ps3 games, there will be many updates to come, but they are hoping it will let you play all games and you can map the rear of the machine touchpad to cover all ps3 buttons if you wish. A proper mobile cod, gt5 and fifa experience will eventually make it sell.

I'm thinking about getting one myself after having a play on one the other day. I've done a bit of looking around and the bundles they're doing on Amazon are by far the best I've seen.

There's another thread somewhere but yes I have pre ordered one. I traded in a barely used DS Lite and original PSP that it will replace, I might trade in a few games too to get some more off.

I'll be doing the same. Wait and see what prices do, as it wouldn't surprise me to see the RRP go down to £199 within even a few months.

I heard the PSP is actually outselling the Vita over there?

not really been keeping up with the vita, but having been seeing a few mire thread pop up the closer it gets to release date, I'm not really into portable gaming, and I don't know if it me be tight fisted, but isn't 199 a lot of money for a portable device, plus the price of games makes it very expensive , would understand if it was your sole source of gaming , but I'm guessing most people who will be buying one, will also have a console sat at home.

Not me.

Portable nowadays to me means a quick game whilst waiting for the wife, or 3-4 minutes at lunch. The thing that stopped me on the PSP was the finding it, turn it on wait to start, start game, reload previous save, quick game, find save point, turn off, remember to take it for a charge.
Now I portable on phone, it's always in my pocket, always turned on, the games remember where I was last time I played (no saves) and I charge it every night anyway.

Yes the quality of games aren't great but for a time filler it's good for any thing longer I have PC or console.

Translation of the Japanese OS 1.6 update coming in a few days to Japanese Vitas (so hopefully we will get this from the start) - Link

The main things are -

A map application
Video capability to the camera (it was photo only before)
Mac version of the content manager software (previously PS3 or Windows)

I loved my PSP when travelling, so ive have preordered a Vita from Play.com @ £212 with FREE 8GB memory card!!!

Thats the cheapest i could find by miles. Ive got an iphone 4S and an ipad 2 and neither give the same gaming expereince and feel like an xbox or ps3 (which i own too) while on the move!

And what with BF and Call of Duty on the cards for Vita that to me is enough for me to buy one for sure.

Cheers guys

I was intending to preorder one, up until I played on one.

The sheer size of the thing puts me right off, it's huge... It's like a PSP that has been fed a strict diet of curries, chips and burger king.

I might wait it out and see what titles are released with it but in all honesty, I think my handheld gaming days are over.

Don't these things have their own storage media? Like not even a memory stick pro duo? Thats a bit of a con by Sony isn't it?

Nope. There's not many I miss out on, this will be one of them. It wreaks of being a flop before it's even launched to me. Hope I'm wrong, time will tell.

- It's not exactly pretty - lovely screen but horrid form factor.
- I don't see the point when an iOS scratches the itch when needed
- They can suck my white ass if they think I'm paying that much for stupid memory cards that are no use in anything else
- The OS / GUI etc are fecking awul from what I've seen
- I just don't see much of a long term market for them. The PSP was a stretch, but it was well supported briefly. I reckon the arse will fall out of the Vita development rush very quickly

Its ridiculous isn't it? I think only Sony would try something like that. Most media nowadays is being phased out, so that only SD Cards are remaining, but oh no, Sony like to play it their own way.

Like really, is there even any excuse for them not using Memory Stick Pro Duo? Thats there own technology, why not use that?

I totally agree. The biggest annoyance for me is actually the GUI. Seriously, what were they thinking?! The XMB used on the PSP and PS3 works well and looks 100x better.
