The release date has been announced,(October 30, 2012) so thought a PH thread was needed for the build up. Anyone got any ideas or inside info on what it is/where it's set etc?

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said "We will push the title a lot because it's a fantastic product that the team has been working for three years. What we have seen is just fabulous."

Wat?

Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed Revelations

Of which, they tied loose ends and finished the series off.

What version are you talking about? confused and where are you getting your info?

Assassin's Creed was always going to be a trilogy - think of AC2 and the second game and Brotherhood/Revelations as 2tongue outart 2 and 2tongue outart 3.. AC3 is the final game in Desmond's story, but won't be the "last game" over all (it's too big a franchise now).

I played AC2 while I was trophy hunting, and found that I enjoyed it far more than I expected. Are the later games as easy in terms of combat? If you were patient it was practically impossible to get hit, which I quite liked.

Ah sorry, I see it's already been cleared up but should've explained how it's working. Essentially each numbered title is seeing a new in game character. AC1: Altair. AC2: Ezio etc etc etc.
And my info was found through the Assassins Creed facebook page read

There is a short film that was made that covers the story of Ezio after the Revelations game.

It hints at new people, of which i can only guess is going to go in a totally different direction from the previous AC games.

What's this then? I've seen "Lineage" made just before AC2, telling the story of Ezio's dad etc..

It's a film called Embers. Was included on one of the special editions or you can buy it. Alternatively do what I did and hunt it down on YouTube. I think there id one good copy on there smile

It basically shows Ezio in retirement through to his death. Nice way to finish it off I suppose although they should have included it as part of the end sequence to the game.

For me Brotherhood will be the best. I loved running around Renaissance Rome and it peaked so much interest in me for things like the Catacombs. I have loads of new ideas for things to see next time I go there myself.

Revelations was a little bit too enclosed, there were no big areas to really stretch your legs in and really see where you were. Plus I think they were always going to find it difficult to beat the atmosphere of Italy. Some of those small farms you see in Brotherhood you can imagine would still be the same today.

Also did you know Monteriggioni is a real town and it looks a great deal like it does in the game? Especially the walls etc. Would love to go there, looks very picturesque.

Can't wait for this. I've only had revelations which included the first game so I played as Altair and then Ezio. Are the others worth buying in the meantime?

Revelations seemed to carry on the story from the first game without going into any detail of the other games.

Only thing that confuses me with Assassins creed is whats going on with desmond? I thought I would end up playing as him at some point, like as a modern day assassin, but if it's set in the american revolution I guess not! I'm guessing the whole apple of eden thing is over now aswell. Argh now I'm getting excited!

got to say ac has been one of the better series on games ive played in the last few years. im waiting to pick up revelations at sub £20 new, hopefully it will drop to £18.99 soon, but im sure i saw on a website they are releasing it again with all the dlc included for £30, that might be worth paying for i think!

I read the updated news today, really looking forward to this now.

RE: The apple, I think its all building up to its final location. In one of the previous AC games it hinted at the location of the Apple or the City that was destroyed in the video parts you unlock. The location was hinted by giving map coordinates, of which there was lots of speculation about. But those coordinates pointed to a place in america.. and now it looks like AC3 will be making its way there. I would take a guess that at some point in AC3 (Near the end) or one of its add ons that you will play Desmond in "today" mode and finalise the story.

Also looks like the English will be making some part of the storyline, appologies i am not clued up on American History but was the English involved in the American Civil War? or are we going to see another part of the story.

The American Revolution isn't the Civil War, there's some 100 years between them.

The Revolution was when the uppity colonials had a pop at us and kicked us (and our tea) out.

Technically they won thanks to the French being upset at our Empire so they had quite a hand in it.

Riiight

I've just finished brotherhood, kinda done them backwards because I got revelations first and the first game was with that. Now now I've just done the middle two.

Are there more than 1 apple of Eden? To me the endings of brotherhood and revelations make no sense. End up with the apple on brotherhood at the end in that Juno place but in revelations you take it back to where Altair was from? I don't get it cos they always talk about the apple as if there's just one.

Have a missed a game out that explains more? I've played assassins creed, assassins creed II, brotherhood and revelations...

bounce GAME had all the pre-order stuff up yesterday. Can't wait.

I can't decide about AC: Brotherhood though - I tend to only game solo so that I can go at my own pace, is it worth buying if I'm not going to do the multiplayer thing?
