Star Wars : The Old Republic has been and gone! People have levelled up, realised that the end game isn't brilliant and raiding leaves a lot to be desired, and then cancelled their subs.
The "free" level 80 character is tempting with WoW, but I have a hunter, paladin and mage at 85 anyway, with a priest parked on 71 (so only about 2 days play away from 80) so not sure what I would choose.

I've been mucking about with the freebie starter edition for the last couple of weeks, just to see if I really wanted to dive in again. Then I looked through the official forums, but I didn't like what I saw, lots of pettiness and b
hing, and really nothing to entice me back in, apart from maybe the Ironman challenge.
Maybe after the Kung Fu Panda expansion.

Tell it to my mates! I'm being pestered to get a sub all the time. I dunno, for me SWTOR tried to do everything at once and that's why I'm not tempted. A good MMO cannot also be a good rpg... Ambitious but, I'm sorry, impossible. The "free" level 80 character is tempting with WoW, but I have a hunter, paladin and mage at 85 anyway, with a priest parked on 71 (so only about 2 days play away from 80) so not sure what I would choose.
Still playing on the Starter Edition ( www.wowhead.com/profile=eu.aerie-peak.xaba ), which despite the f2p limitations (no mail, no trading, no Auction House, Professions limited to 100) has proven to be a lot of fun. Still getting gear, hopefully I'll have time to run some of the 21-25 dungeons next week to get the head/gloves/wrist and a replacement for the gun.
The Battlegrounds in the 20-24 bracket are turning out to be a good challenge, I'm still learning how to play properly. I'd forgotten pretty much everything I'd learned about PvP (which I was never particularly good at to begin with…) but staying at the lower levels keeps thing a little simpler from a tactical standpoint.
If anyone else is interested in playing an f2p character, there's some good info over on the Twinkinfo f2p Board.
