I went on it the other night to see what it was like. A good few people still on multiplayer which was good.

Its still really enjoyable. The graphics still look pretty decent after the years have gone on.

I was round a friends who had this and hadn't really played it. So while he was on the PC I created quite an incredible car collection. Filled up the little garage you start with with the 4 green British Light weights. Then the bigger garage you get with all blue cars all organised into the different mini garages. I.e the TVR's in one etc Can't remember what else.

Why doesn't GT5 have this? Adds a extra dimension to your car collection by seeing it in garages and being able to organise it; brings it to life rather than just scrolling through endless pictures.

That part of the game was really fun.

I think in PGR3 or maybe 2, it even better as you just had one environment with a number of different garages that you could walk around. I think it was on an airfield or something, and you could start them up and test drive. Kind of like the autovista mode in Forza, but actually being able to place your own cars where you liked and actually walk around the different environments.

Yeah this is why I enjoy the Test Drive Unlimiteds. It has lots of houses to organise your cars and you can choose the houses you buy and they're all different. Then walk around them and change a few bits of the dcor. When I get back from Uni I can't wait just to take my D-type for a spin around Ibiza.

If only there were more cars and a wider range of them and the physics were much more realistic and it would be totally amazing.

Actually I just can't get on with the whole physics engine. None of the vehicles seem to have any mass to them and the handling just feels too twitchy, and the bikes are even worse.

It's a pity since it feels quite close to being a half decent simulator (unlike TDU2), like it was one originally then someone who had never driven a car in their life said "doesn't feel like Ridge Racer/TDU2/it needs to be faster/more arcadey etc. etc. frown

That said doing a lap around a snow covered Nurburgring is cool as fk biggrin Nice engine notes too* biggrin

ETA - except that said dumbfk who ruined the handling thought it would be a good idea to muffle the noise completely while in the 'in-helmet' view so a screaming Ferrari V12 sounds more like a bland 4-cylinder/vacuum cleaner rolleyes

It's closer to a sim than TDU, though bikes aren't right on either really...

And TDU 2 they've brought in ones with vague front ends, so... wink

Ah, just re-read my post - not sure why I included the first TDU2 reference... But I'd agree PGR4 is closer to a sim than TDU while TDU2 is a long way off. To date I've never found a racing game with bikes that I've got on with, I'd rather just take my own bike out for a spin biggrin

Tourist Trophy on PS2 was good. Certainly according to Bike magazine when they tried it. (GT4 but bikes instead.)

The advantage of video game bikes is that if you crash them, they don't break...
