Old DOS games

Following on from the thread about F1 Manager, I decided to see if there was a DOS emulator for my tablet, which after a while of looking I found DOSbox Turbo for £2.49 on the market.

It works great and so far have downloaded Desert Strike, Sensible Soccer, Street Fighter II Turbo and Micro Machines 2. Unfortunately I cant find the DOS version of F1 Manager, but will keep looking.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Trying to rack my brains for games of old but struggling!

The original Geoff Crammond's F1 is great - It was Senna era so had all the decent tracks.

Day of the Tentacle is great if you've not played it through before, as is Sam & Max Hit the Road.

I guess Command and Conquer : Tiberian Sun would work pretty well on a Tablet, also UFO:Enemy Unknown.

Try www.abandonia.com to get some ideas, but obviously instead of downloading anything buy the original disks from the developer, or second hand on eBay, because pirating 20 year old games is killing the games industry.

I think you may be thinking too modern here. DOS games go back a fair way further than where you're thinking..

I appreciate this but isn't it down to how powerful his tablet is? I mean I would recommend Flight Simulator 3 (1990?) but that might be a bit too early.

Any tablet will be able to run any game made for DOS, I should think.

I didn't necessarily mean how powerful it is in terms of processing the games. Any DOS game should run perfectly well on today's processors, even tablet-based.

I was meaning more a case of thinking of some OLD DOS games, in the same way the OP was with his suggestions. I think DOOM could be a good one...

Wow, quite a few good suggestions here.

Have mainly struck to racing so far as the onscreen keyboard makes it easier with wasd controls. Will definitely get Lemmings and Cannon Fodder and see if the touchscreen mouse option within the emulator works.

Forgive my ignorance, but regarding the post saying to support the developers, half the companies involved with these games no longer exist. And of those that do, the website says this is abandonware and is now distributed as PD (This may be the website lieing though, so ignore my gullible-ness if it is)

Has anyone tried DOS emulators on a tablet? Was looking to see if I can get a USB joypad but not sure if it would work

Abandonware occupies a legally grey area. It's all still copyright, and so unauthorised copying is unlawful if someone decided to kick up a stink. We aren't allowed to endorse such activity here.
