With the imminent release of Diablo 3 I was wondering if there were any tales of marathon Diablo sessions or the hunt for original PSX copies etc. etc.

I have more than once lost a day or 10 playing this game and I both eagerly await and dread the release of this game.

I await it for obvious reasons but I dread it because divorce is such a costly business.

So come on tell the tales of Diablo.

I remember picking up and loving the original Diablo, but never played it in multiplayer as that was before the days of decent dial up, I think!

However D2, I piled plenty of hours into. Never reached level 99, I think the highest I ever got to was 94. Luckily I had an equally D2 mad mate who used to get me the top level gear from the auctions. We still had the odd game up until about 2 years ago...

Diablo 3 does concern me. I've actually booked a couple of days off work - got loads of holiday to use up, so thought I may as well put it to 'good' use wink played the open beta this weekend, and while it doesnt really feel like Diablo, still enjoyable. First run out will be with the Monk I think

I cannot believe that I missed the open beta but feck it soon enough I'll have the game.

Then I shall have to take pictures of the wife and kids so I can remember what they look like.

Is Diablo a multiplayer game? It doesn't look like it in any of the videos. It actually looks a bit dated for a not-even released game and yet there's a lot of anticipation out there about it, sot he question is why? What is / was so amazing about the title?

Me and my brother used to play Diablo II over the network - Many a day lost.

I might give the new one a go ... If I can find any time.

Take off next week. biggrin

Get online mind. That's where the fun starts. Baal runs are fun. Tomb runs are also good fun in a "The Mummy" kind of way. Working along side other powerful players with magic flying everywhere is like watching fireworks.

Yes, Diablo 2 is. They were questioning Diablo 3's multiplayer facility.

Annoyingly I can't get the Diablo2 to work on my computer other than it being tiny and haven't been able to get the high res version to work. Having said that I've watched all the vids on the D3 site and I'm convinced enough to order it...I think I'll go for a Monk as I like fast characters

Diablo 2 on, night time comes. Morning comes, night times comes again. More chocolate and lucozade. That was effectively me for 3 weeks solid, sleeping 16 hours every 2 days or so. I was an absolute wreck, seeing topaz in real life and getting excited about the boost to my magic find haha, never again!

Mate of mine had his arrive today, I'm hoping to pick up a copy from Tesco on Tuesday.

To the above - Diablo games are insanely addictive...not sure why. They're ultimately very repetative and shallow, yet the "just one more level" mentality is strong, especially as you want to see what the next boss drops, or you want to get the next level to unlock X talent or Y ability.

The "Real Money" auction house should be interesting. You can rest assured if I find anything ultra-rare I'll be selling it!

This made me root around in the toy chest, yip... original boxed Diablo from 1996, Hellfire pack and Diablo 2 plus the "tactics" books for each... ebay time I think before I get sucked back into a decade old lost time.

My cousin used to play it and I used to chill in the spare room playing it with him for hours, finally got it years ago when it was still really popular I think I played it nearly every day for like 2 years lol,the game got boring after a while so I got into pvp which I loved I had a pvp char for every type.
Loved my smiter I had bugged belt, armour, grief, sojs,pc charms 12 %hfr, everything lol, also had an insane 47k dmg light sorc.
There's a debate as to whether they'll make a proper pvp arena like wow although I never played wow properly I can't wait for it,I hope the real money auctions won't ruin the trading

Despite playing Warcraft on and off for years, I've never as much as sniffed the case of Diablo. How do the two compare?

In simple terms, Diablo is Warcraft Lite.
