My 360 Elite died on me a few months ago (RROD). I didn't want to miss out on any Forza 4 action so I bought a new box on the same day. I successfully migrated my account, saves and settings to the new machine and all was well (though I was ~£200 down...).

Subsequently I've been able to repair the RROD'd machine so now being the proud owner of two machines I'd like to use the old box in the lounge to watch films/bbc or play the occasional arcade game.

Does anyone know if I need an entirely new Xbox live account (and Gold subscription) for the 2nd machine or is it possible to use my account on both?

Cheers all.

You'll need to go: 'recover your gamertag'.

If you can't remember your password and or your email account it's linked to you're screwed. Ask 'The Trash' wink

I swapped mine over in 30 seconds when I bought a bigger harddrive.

can use both butnot with same account at same time. Lots of info on xbox official site about transferring purchased content. I did it with a usb stick.

I use online cloud saves for my games now.

I'm quite happy to keep all my game saves and data on the upstairs one, just would be nice to download a few classic Sega games (for example) to the downstairs machine for a bit of casual gaming. I'd rather not go through the hassle of recovering the profile from machine to machine (if this is what's required) as and when I want to use them. It's all quite confusing, but I get the feeling I will need two accounts as this gives MS more cash.

PS thanks for the help so far, I'll have a delve into the MS support site this evening.

Once your login to each xbox it's there and will only require a password from then on. A mate of mine has his avatar on my xbox for when he comes round, enters password and we're away. It is really easy once you've done it once.

One subscription on multiple machines is doable - you can use the cloud storage, or (like I do) stick your gamer profile on a USB stick with savegames.

One thing to be wary of, I had FM3 on two machines, and lost a good number of cars (DLC, pre-order bonus, and T10 gifts - DLC was obviously re-downloadable; gifts and pre-order stuff was lost for good) when I went from one to the other xbox. I only run FM4 on one machine, dunno if the same will happen again.
