Think I'll order it from Lovefilm to see what it's like.
1st one was ok, haven't played the second one, I mostly looking forward to it coming out so R* can crack on with sorting out a release date for GTA V!
I think I miss a lot of these games because I never watch the cut scenes or really pay any attention to the story.

My brother does this, I need to watch every cut-scene and read every bit of detail when I play a game. Adds to the game IMO
Terrible for it, I'm playing through the Battlefield 3 single player now, I was a yank getting shot at, then a Russain, now I'm a yank again being shot at by Russians, I've no idea why, all I know is they're pretty stupid, given more than one person to shoot at, the enemy don't notice it you flank them and don't seem to care when you start shooting their mates, they just ignore you and keep taking pot shots at the guys behind the wall. Too this day I still don't really know why the guy in GTA 4 was looking for the main baddie or why people kept f
king up his Brother. Finished this on Saturday. Loads of fun, even if the story is unrelenting dark - definitely no redemption for Max!
Felt the detail in the exit wounds and blood rivers was a bit excessive, but the gunplay is probably the best there has been in any third person shooter for a VERY long time.

I love these new games but I know damn well my creaking old computers wont play them and I dont own a modern game console.
Loved the first one. 2nd was a bit yawn. Hope the 3rd is mind blowing.

I might sound like some sort of fanboy or like i have an axe, but try onlive.com it lets you play the latest games on your PC (streming). not sure if they got max payne 3 yet, but tried driver los angeles last night and batman and it was surprisingly smooth!Loved the first one. 2nd was a bit yawn. Just clocked it. Do people still say that?
I played on the normal setting and if it wasnt for me dying constantly due to me being crap, it would be a short game. Finished it in a few sittings.
Good game. He got a bit whiney after a while but the graphics are great. Mafia II is similar sans driving.

Short? As far as VFM goes, this is one hell of a shooter. It's massive! Though I did my first playthrough on hard, I really enjoyed it. It's good on that difficulty though, as every shootout is exciting and tense. Consider the amount of levels/locations in the singleplayer and how long the campaign is, many developers would be happy to release it as two games! Then there is fact that it is expertly paced, so it is constantly engaging. Thats before you even get to the MP side of things.I played on the normal setting and if it wasnt for me dying constantly due to me being crap, it would be a short game. I'm replaying it now collecting golden guns and clues before going back for a New York Minute run and maybe another run on a harder difficulty. I had expected this game to be good, but not this good. Max Payne must be my favourite game hero of all time, never missing a dry one liner. His 'Bruce Willis in Die Hard' style world weariness is great. That little speech at the beginning of the game about capitalism and getting what you pay for, amazing.

There is no way I would have finished it on hard. I scraped by on normal. It took me 11 hours to complete so I don't find that long for a campaign. I will replay it though like most good games. There were a couple of tough spots, nothing undoable. I was glad to have a shotgun in the police station for the bit where you are ambushed by the blokes in the elevators with the green laser sights. I was able to hang back and blind fire them down. The airport wasn't as tough as I thought it would be, I just took it slowly and kept my cool and made it through without much trouble. There was a tough spot on the boat in Panama where the blokes ambush you from the quayside as you run alongside the boat, and then you have to fight up a set of stairs onto another deck. I had a few goes at that to figure out the best course of action.Consider that people have finished it on New York Minute Hardcore now! Super hard difficulty, against the clock. One death or running out of time means you go all the way back to the start of the game, no checkpoints!
