They have been closed down
. Barbarian, Lemmings, the Wipeout games.
Shame it's gone.

Shadow of the Beast 2 was properly hard! Remember the "Ten Pints" cheat..??
Lemmings is on Xbox Live I think.
I think it was the only way you could actually play the game, it was insanely hard. Lemmings is on Xbox Live I think.

What was even worse is back in the day there wasn’t any internet, you couldn’t log onto youtube and find 20 different videos showing you how to get past a boss, or google for cheats.
Thing is the cheat didn’t mean you could complete the game, a miss-jump here or there and you were stuck and had to restart. After all that effort ... what do you get ... a fuzzy scanned picture to look at for 3 mins and some music!
Shadow of the beast 1 was even harder, I never got past the first screen!
Quite tempted to see if I can get an Amiga emulator running on my Mac for some nostalgia - I really want to play Turrican again!

I can remember moving house and staying at my nans for a week. My dad had this game and had a book of notes and an A0 map on his A0 board in the spare room.

Good memories.
[edit] just the publisher. Didn't notice :P

Sad news indeed. But on a more positive note, Activision have opened up a subsidiary in Leeds, curiously co-founded by one of the blokes who founded Team17. They will be specialising in software for portable platforms, not unlike Rockstar Leeds...
I hope this doesn't mean Team17 and R*Leeds are going to go titsup.
Also, Revolution Gaming in York are running a Kickstarter project to raise $400K for a new Broken Sword game, which they say will be 2D. As they have already raised $230K in 3 days, I'd say it looks highly likely to go ahead.
