Ah the greed of the publisher.
Rome: Total war is already the best Action-RTS that there is, everyone who knows this has already bought a copy. Therefore the only way to make MORE money from the franchise is to make another one.
Even though the world doesn't need it! It can't possibly be better than the first one, nothing else is.

maybe, but I shall still buy it. I love Napoleon Total War, but Rome is still my fave, as I like the era better - and the game mechanics suits ancient warfare a lot better than modern, I think.
I never really got into Shogun 2. It looks great and plays well, but I have zero interst in that particular era or location. I didn't think this would matter, as I love all Total War games, but for me, it does, to my surprise.

Not really. Rome TW is now a little aged and graphically and mechanically very basic. The new game will be far more polished, look better, have newer and different gameplay options etc. Its an evolution of the game rather than a replication. Was Skyrim just greed or an evolution of oblivion? Fallout 3 greed or a better game than fallout 1 and 2? If you dont like it dont buy it and dont worry about commenting!

So in your mind once sometihng is done once you cant make a better more evolved version as that is just a way to make money???? Great mindset really. Man made fire with a stick in a cave. Lets just stay at that point for the rest of time. Talk about cutting you nose off the spite your face.

Judging by your garage, you apply this ideal to more than just games.

Really looking forward to this, the last one I played was Empire (played and loved them all the previous ones) which left me a bit meh to be honest. I absolutely loved the world view with the trade routes, individual towns to raid/protect, etc. but the battles themselves left me cold.
Hopefully with hordes of barbarians bouncing off my legionaries it'll light the spark again!

Loved Rome and Total War Medieval (first one) but never got into the rest. Was really looking forward to the Napoleon one but it was pretty buggy at the time and life got in the way.

This is another game I am looking forward to which should come out well before Rome 2. Not that it is Rome based or even strategy but I don't think it deserves its own thread.

Awesome. I love RTW and the series for that matter althoguh not played Shogun 2, will have to look at getting a new PC as mine sturggles with Empire.

There was a patch for RTW made by fans called 'Rome Total Realism'made the map, units, recruitment etc more historically accurate.

I sincerely hope this will be worth the wait, and they haven't tried to 'over-egg' anything.
