My better half would like some games for her (Windows) laptop.

But as someone of the intellectual persuasion, she'd like games which are more 'thinky' than the usual driving/shooting/sporting stuff.

She's bored with the obvious Scrabble, and doesn't want boring stuff like Sudoku and puzzles.

Anyone know of any exciting games for 'thinkers'?

I always loved the old adventure games, especially the Lucasarts ones (Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit The Road); if she didn't play those the first time round I'm sure it will be hilarious watching her trying to "use things with other things" in increasingly bizarre combinations for hours on end. wink

hehe

There's another game that was a PH favourite, too. Luckily for you, I can't think what it is called though.

Stoppit.

I haven't thought about THAT game for ages.

You're not luring me back in that easily...

...although those rockets were quite good fun...

ETA :- Certainly wouldn't have been considered an "intelligent game" though!

Might be worth asking in the Computer Games forum too.

A lot of the indie games on Steam may be worth looking at
http://store.steampowered.com/genre/Indie/
On the first page there's "Puddle" Dive into Puddle, a game unlike any other where you have to guide a puddle of fluid by tilting the environment to the left or right! Play carefully taking friction, gravity and temperature into account, and by using the unique properties of each type of fluid (water, oil, nitroglycerin, molten lava...) in a range of original environments.

No idea if that one's any good, but that's the kind of thing on there, you may have to wait for a weekend when something interesting is on offer down to 50p though.

You're thinking of Tower Defence. I was thinking of another puzzle game like Contraption.

Oh, God, not that! (Well, that's certainly not a game of intelligence as such even if it is tricky.)

Defcon available for pence on steam need alot of thought and strategy to keep losses to a minimum plus you can leave it going in the task bar in real time smile

Very underated game and very immersive at moments I've really thought I was a bunker commander miles underground with my fingers on 'the button'

Nope, I thought you'd seen a thread like this one

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

But I won't go back there, oh no, I won't go back there.

Besides, I've just weaned myself back off Bloons TD5 after a rather heavy relationship with my dart throwing monkeys.
