I quite recently got an absolute beast of an Alienware laptop but I dont know of any decent racing games that will push it. I'm not a massive fan of arcade style games like NFS but absolutely love GT5 on my ps3 so thats the style of game Im after.

Any ideas?

The simbin titles sport excellent fidelity and there's a new one coming out soon.

iRacing is probably the best but is subscription based, the new Lotus 49 and McLaren are going to be worth that though smile

LFS is my favourite overall but Assetto Corsa will be my new favourite, I think, once it comes out.

If it's graphics you want, check out 'Project CARS'

Some of the screenshots can leave your eyebrows raised for a good 20 minutes (A "good 20 minutes" is approx 23 minutes btw)

Another vote for C.A.R.S.:

With a few provisos: It's still in Alpha, it's still not optimized, and you'll need a seriously beefy PC to make it playable, let alone look anything like the screenshots above.

GTR2 has outstanding mod community which make for some amazing games. You can just about drive any car on any circuit you can think of.

In GTR2 I've run a full Nurburgring 24hour race with day/night cycle across a triple screen (5760x1080) on the proper endurance (GP+NordS) circuit against 100 AI cars covering any class I could think of (SIARP Lacetti to a DBR9 and MP4-12C GT3 to Zonda R) Totally Mayhem but awesome.

Driven the Targa Florio course (incredible) in a Redbull X1 thing (stupid idea, far more enjoyable in a 906)

Bathurst in an F1? No probs.

Crystal Palace in a 917, Can do.

IoM TT (truncated, but full circuit is a WIP) in a F458 GT3, why not!

I really hope GTR3 is similarly modable as GTR2.

Bit O/T, which community do you reckon runs the best online series? Been looking at getting in to some endurance stuff and the iRacing community rarely seems to run stuff over 60 minutes frown

Bloody hell those screenshots are incredible. That water!

And Wayoftheflower, I think you just cost me £7.50 I don't have. Cheers!

Must admit, my old system couldn't cut it and have all the bells and whistles enabled. My current rig is not exactly cutting edge - i7 950 @ 4 gig, 12gb ram, two GTX 560Ti's (448 core with 1.2gb ram) in SLi, and that seems happy with most stuff on max, a 1920x1080 res and plenty of Ai cars on the track.I still can't have the FSAA stuff on max though due to video ram, but I can run it with the majority of jagged edges smoothed out.A beautiful game for sure!

I still love to play around with GTR2, Rfactor/Rfactor2, Race07 etc though. As mentioned, it's mod city with such games. You can also add cars from games such as GT Legends to most of them and mix and match all sorts of stuff from all sorts of games.

Me messing about in a Radical vs some touring cars in the rain for example..

I was never much into online tbh, the http://www.pilsbierbude.de/ site seemed to have a bit on though.

Cheers buddy, will check it out. Wouldn't mind some online leagues on the Sim Bin games, but couldn't really get used to the feel (or lack of) after iRacing

WOW!!!!!!!!

Will download that in the morning. My lappy spec is

i7 3610 @2.3 GHz
2Gb 7970m
8Gb 1600 ram
256Gb Crucial M4 SSD

Do you think that will run it on high?
