So the launch date in the UK is almost upon us, who is getting one?

I was tempted and the OH has already pre-approved purchase too as she likes the look of them but early US reviews of the launch line-up haven't exactly been glowing and I'm not sure any of the launch titles appeal massively to me anyway. The only one I was really interested in was ZombieU and that has been getting very mixed reviews.

Anyone got one pre-ordered?

My OH showed me this with a view to it being my Christmas present but I am struggling to understand what it offers over the existing platforms. In our house, we already have a Wii, Playstation 3 and XBox as well as some 3DSs and an iPad. Is the Wii U worth having too? I'm thinking "no" atm...

This has been my reservation too. The only real appeal for me might be the new Zelda game when it comes out, by which time I'll hope to pick up a cheap one 2nd hand. Don't really see the innovation in it sadly.

Been out in the US for a little bit, quite a lot of reviews/videos kicking about. If you enjoyed the Wii, it looks like you'll enjoy this.

Still not really a rival to the Xbox/PlayStation, but I don't suppose it's targeting them.

Yep the new controller\tablet thingie seemed exciting at first but having read the reviews of how the games are using the new functionality, it seems like they don't really know what to make of it. Still this might get better as the developers get more time with it.

It's out in the US already so just google Wii U review or Wii U Launch Games reviews to get the low down but it's not as positive as I was expecting tbh.

Yep HMV definitely seem to have the best deals at the moment. I was quite looking forward to Zombie U but it's been getting very mixed reviews unfortunately. I was all set to pre-order too but the launch line up just isn't exciting me that much at the moment so I might just wait till they get a bit cheaper before jumping in. I will get one at some point as for pure sillyness\fun multiplayer games, Nintendo can't be beat.

Saying that, in the US Wii U consoles on ebay are going for about twice the price so for those who are on the fence, it might be worth taking a punt anyway and if you don't like it you can always sell it without loosing any money.
