One of the guys who made the original Elite, is planning to make a modern day version, and is attemtping to raise some cash to fund it, via Kickstarter.

Looks interesting and certainly brings back some memories of the orginal - probably the first open ended game I remember playing, which didnt have the usual 3 lives.
