PS3 -which essential games?

Father Christmas will be bringing a new shiny PS3 and I now need to get some games for it!

I mainly play FPS games on my PC so I'll probably buy BF3 for it (I have it on PC but I'm moving all gaming to a console) but I'll also need sme others so I'd like recommendations please.

I'll probably get GT5 and maybe a GTA game as they should be cheap now

The best games you can buy on the PS3 are mostly on the PSN Store

Braid - This is one of the greatest games I've ever played on any platform, ever.
Journey - This is a close, close, second.
Limbo
Trine
Machinarium - It's a point and click game, but don't be put off by that. It's wonderful.

Discs:
Dragon Age Origins if you like RPGs. Avoid Dragon Age 2, it's terrible. Probably the closest thing you're going to get to Baldur Gates on a console.
Dark Souls
Vanquish - Fast paced, full of action. Brilliant. And on the hardest difficulty properly challenging.
Dead Space
X-Com Enemy Unknown
Skyrim

The Uncharted trilogy is worth a playthrough, I'd also add Demon's Souls to the above suggestion of Dark Souls.

Red Dead Redemption - fantastic game & loads to do. Cheap now as well.

With BF3 you pretty much have everything you need.

If you like single player games, then Fallout 3 GOTY and Skyrim.

Those three games can keep you going all year (unless you game 24/7).
