Xbox 360 - NFS Most Wanted

OK, I really rate this game, great graphics and sound etc etc, good arcade racer, but bloody hell am I finding it difficult! I'm not the world's greatest at games, but I'm far from the worst, but this is proving near impossible. Any tips would be appreciated - I've shut down the Cobra, but can't so any of the other races and hence most of my cars have little or no mods. Or do I give it a rest and go back to Forza Horizon? Thanks
