Could be a bit of fun for the price! Be interesting to see what kind of visuals they can wring out of that hardware too.

It's just an Android smart phone in a square box, minus the phone bit, plus a controller and lead to plug it into your TV.

This,

At the moment all it will play is stuff off the android App Store so phone/tablet games, unless someone actually decides to make games to utilise the hardware.

Don't forget the Onlive app, much more choice there plus emulators and stuff like vice city and max Payne, not a bad selection

I'll save my money for the proper new consoles. These kinds of things have their place, but it's not in my living room.

Search youtube for "ashens ouya" for an unbias review.

I had pre-ordered one of these, not so much for the games but for the XBMC ability and the emulators. It was meant to be delivered in April, no sign of it so I cancelled my order last week. Potentially a good concept but terrible service.

I love how GAME are promoting a SNES emulator on their Ouya page:

http://www.game.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Hu...

How is that even legal?

Pretty sure Emulators are technically 'legal' as long as you own the original game.

How you police that though wink

You have a point actually. If it gives smaller developers the chance to break into the games market without having high (and costly) machines in sight, then it may open up a new market in the gaming world.

However, if it is as I suspect, and just going to be loads of mobile phone games on a console. Then it will be cack, as they just churn out the same old cack with new themes to them.

Ashens managed to find one in a second-hand shop before it was even officially released. Someone obviously thought their Kickstarter donation was well worth it.

His review - good, but not great.

having got one yesterday, I didnt set it up till late, but found out, that the right 'R2' trigger on the controller sticks every few press's, and you have to press the bumper above it to release it, otherwise it just will not come out.

quite a pain in the arse, but will be exchanging it for a new controller in game tomoro.

other than that small grip, which with an indi console is expected to have a few problems, its not a bad console.

yes it does have mainly 'good' android mobile games on it, but they are optimised for the ouya, and there are some games that were made just for the ouya, and there is even a dev kit option for it, so you can make your own games if you know how and perhaps make a bit of money on the side.

not a bad bit of kit, but mainly for people who play mobile games and dont want to fork out a huge amount for a xbox/ps/wii, and the fact that they already probably have seen a few of the games already, and that they can play them on a big screen and with actually buttons is a boon

Had a play with the emulators tonight, they worked fine. (Not sure what's allowed to talk about regarding emulators so for now ill say that standard games ran well, but I need to find out what open gl settings a Tegra 3 can handle to make the games high res and shiny but still playable.)
