Hi guys

I know a few of you are into your PC gaming and I was wondering what keyboards you all use.

At the minute I've got an ancient beige Microsoft keyboard which if I'm honest is great, however after moving house my PC is now in the lounge and it looks a bit crap.

I've looked at keyboards and of course they vary hugely.

I like the three separate sections of my current keyboard (QWERTY / Arrow Keys / Numpad).
I'm comfortable with raised/chunky keys with a bit of travel.
I don't need macro functions.

Don't have a budget but I think it'd pain me to spend more than £40 on a keyboard.

So, what's out there that's nice to use?

I've a logitech Pro 2800, £20 from amazon:

I'm sure I paid somewhat more than that but I've had it a while.

The batteries last for ages and the mouse has two setting for the wheel; either free-spinning (which is great for scrolling very large documents) or normal ratchet type (or whatever it's called). The mouse (MX620) is particularly good.

I have a normal wired Dell keyboard but use a Razr Nostromo keypad/controller for games and love it. I also have a Rat 7 mouse which is great.

I'm still crap at games though. frown

However, even one of these:

is still 1 million times better than one of these:

when it comes to playing any game ever written !

I remember drooling over the G15 when it was first released, at nearly £100 though it's far too much for me!

Anyway, the Sidewinder X4 looks just the trick at the right price so I've ordered one.

Probably but it is extremely comfortable and fully programmable.

Fair enough - however, I've never thought "My mouse is uncomfortable!" Also, in all the games I've played, I've been able to set the buttons to do what I want. (This non-branded one even has a thumb and little finger button. Thumb is set to reload in BF3. Can't remember what the little finger button does, though. hehe )

Most standard mice are a bit small for me to rest my hand on for any amount of time so I have to use them with only my fingers which I find uncomfortable. The Rat has changeable palm rests and can be extended which is great for me. YMMV.

Well, and a keyboard as well. But anything is better than a wky console controller ! ( The fact that I bought a PS3 on the day they came out and only use it for playing DVDs because I can't use said toss controller may have some bearing on my opinion ).

For a mouse get to Pcworld and try them out.

The differences are amazing and it isn't always the expensive ones that are best.

Best features of Sidewinder, light up keyboard and easy program keys

I've got a Microsoft Intellimouse (Black one with silver side buttons) and it's comfortable and accurate enough for me.

Use the thumb button for Push-to-Talk but don't think I've ever used the pinky button!
