So, lets see if I got this correct.

Dead Space 1. Excellent, atmospheric survival horror in space. Lots of people liked it.

Dead Space 2 was more action orientated. It wasn't anywhere near as good as Dead Space but it was decent.

Then EA decides Dead Space is to be Mass Effect, crams it full of micro transactions (because EA), comes with loads of day 1 DLC (because EA), online multiplayer in the form of co-op (because CoD) Makes it even more of a shooter (because CoD) and more cinematic (because CoD).

Doesn't sell well enough. Dead Space 4 gets canned.

Well done EA. Brilliant.

Take a pretty loved game, your original IP, and change it into something different and people don't like it any more. Who could have seen that coming!

I have no hopes for Dragon Age 3 any more, none at all. I hoped 2 was a blip but it wasn't, was it ?

As well as discussing Dead Space 4's alleged cancellation, our source also gave us further insight into Dead Space 3's development, telling us that the game was almost cancelled partway through its development, and saw continuous cuts made to its budget throughout production.

Weapon-specific ammo was allegedly switched for generic ammo late in development, too, as a method for shoehorning in the game's controversial micro-transactions.

EA also advised Visceral that Dead Space 3 needed to appeal to a wider audience than the series' previous two titles, our source added, and the studio was reportedly told to focus on action over horror in an effort to make the game feel more like BioWare's Mass Effect.

Although we'll have to wait and see what happens, as EA are saying the rumours are untrue. FWIW, I am quite enjoying Dead Space 3 so far.

Well there's no way Dragon Age 3 can be any worse or more of a disappointment than Dragon Age 2!

DS3 does not feel of play anything like a Mass Effect game, so if that was their intention they failed miserably. I thought it got off to a slow start, it does feel frustrating when the screen floods with enemies and you are left with only a clunky engine that is not really a shooter, nor a survival horror engine, to defend yourself. The latest Resident Evil games have suffered the same problem.

Mass Effect on the other hand, particularly ME2 and 3, feel so much slicker to play.

However, DS3 does pick up about halfway through, and you start to feel a bit of a terminator, so when the hordes of enemies rush you, you can crush them with little effort, and just enjoy the real joy of DS, the exploration and story.

I have not finished it yet, so no spoilers please, but I was lead to believe this was supposed to be a trilogy. If they have not wrapped the story up, hoping to go onto DS4, and had to can it, leaving the story unfinished I'll be plenty unimpressed.

Haven't got DS3 yet, but intend too at some point. I'm a little surprised however at the opinions on DS2 - I thought it was better than the 1st game in just about every single way, and is one of my favourite games of this gen. It's also one of the only games in the last few years that I've played through more than once with the 'new game plus' option.

I thought Dead Space 2 was better than the original. Though it did attract criticism for those who thought it was Dead Space doing an 'Aliens', and taking a more action packed direction. I thought it was bloody great. Apart from those 'lurker' enemies you fought in the Church of Scientology, they were a pain in the arse.
