Is like watching my old flatmate at uni play COD. Was three rooms down the corridor from his and could hear his screaming and shouting at the tv at like 4am.

I'm sure they're happy with the $1m they made by winning.

Not that I approve of their conduct.

I was thinking the same thing. What you're seeing is people expressing their passion. You might not share it, but they might not share yours.

This guy's only commentating.. not even taking part!

So CoD attracts the same sort of fanbase as football ?

You know, that sort of behaviour shouldn't really be acceptable in football stands either.

There's a difference with those videos, they do show people excited and passionate. Their is a difference between that and just screaming, shouting and swearing at the other team in an organised tournament.

+ hehe at tournament CoD,
++ hehe at an FPS tournament on a console.

Not sure if fanbase is the right word. Same enthusiasm, perhaps. I don't mind the swearing - there were no monkey chants as per European football. When there's something competitive, people are going to swear whether they're CoDing, playing football or rock climbing.

That said, I didn't watch the entire video so I don't know if punches were thrown. I imagine the reality would be a lot of slapping each other's hands like male hairdressers having a fight over who owns the curling tongs. biggrin

That's really funny - thanks for sharing!

I don't subscribe to that kind of behaviour at all, but I wonder, in that environment how many of us would get caught up and join in? Mob mentality is a funny thing! Or, you know, just for a laugh. Ha.

Anyone spot the young Egon Spengler?

Mr "I am the best" comes across as a complete cock.

I think with $1million riding on the game I'd get pretty " in the zone "

This. But because it involves games they must be weirdos destined to shoot up schools (because thats what the Daily Mail tells me gamers do).

Initially, it did remind me of football and most competitive sport....

...however, in all those cases its the fans. In this case, it's the actual players! Imagine if football players were like this throughout the entire game hehe I mean, they have 'sledging' in cricket but its a more like banter rather than abuse they're giving out in the OPs vid.

This is going to sounded elitist, but its the kind of behaviour I'd expect from typical CoD players, based on people I know, and what I've heard online.

You didn't get that type of behaviour in competitive Quake matches, my good man! *adjusts top hat*

Footballers do it, you just can't hear them over the baying mob spectators. Rooney got in trouble for getting all angry and swearing at a camera for daring to film him scoring a goal and Terry whatshisface took up six months of news coverage because he called someone a black .
