XBLA download only game for 1600MPS (£16). Reviewers have loved it so far. Anyone else tried it?

Its an open world role player game based after a zombie apocalypse. You have to build your own community, scavenge etc. Real world knock on effects etc. Im currently downloading it.

I downloaded the trial and played for about 5 minutes.

Seems good if you get into it but I don't like the camera angle, also it will be better when they bring out the co-op patch.

I will be buying it. I intended to download it this morning, only to find out I didn't have enough MSP!

At the "official" exchange rate, 1600 MSP is actually £13.60. It may be less if you bought the code through a third party vendor at cheaper than the going rate.

Is it any good? It's not perfect - it's graphically nothing to rave about, and the controls are a bit clunky, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I played the hour you get in the demo and paid to unlock the full game.

Try the demo (1.81 Gb) and judge for yourself. It's a lot of MS points to drop on an XBLA game.....

I played the hour and thought it was ok. Didn't buy the full game as I just don't think I'll get my monies worth. It's very much like resident evil I thought. Go around searching places to find things.its less scripted mind....

Game is amazing! Can't put it down.

Really need to think of a strategy to get by in the game, I decided to take on a big un early on in the game and got killed, so I'm stuck with the maya however shes levelling up pretty quickly

If anyone is struggling I'd recommend going to the police station , full of good guns. Only disappointing aspect of the game is no co-op which I think there releasing!

It's nothing like Resident Evil. I love the strategy aspect of it, it's very cleverly made.

My brother seems to enjoy this. I had a quick watch of it, graphics are pretty horrible but gameplay looks quite fun.

£16 sounds cheap for a new Xbox game

So......

Just bought this on the PC using Steam over the weekend, since it was only £8, and got Breakdown at the same time.

Hadn't paid any attention to this when it first came out since it was XBox only.

So far....its brilliant!

I've given the story mode a miss and gone straight for Breakdown mode. I think its a really well made game. Nothing too fancy...but solid at what it does. It really does make you feel like it's you against the zombies, where surviving is the only goal.

The whole 'build up a community' aspect is brilliant too, and I can't help but get more and more anxious the further away I get from Home Base smile

Like all these types of games, it would be nice to be able to have more than one person following you at a time, but thats a minor thing really.

Basically a sandbox version of the orginal game.

You start off randomly on the map and have to find a community to join, then you try to survive for as long as possible.

When you used up all the resource on the map, or want to move up a difficulty, you have to repair an RV and travel away....

The map then basically resets (have to find/ start a new community as if you've 'just arrived there').....but ups the ante a little; stamina reduces more quickly, zombies are harder to kill, more frequent powerful zombies, less resource, etc....

Basically....you play the game without the story getting in the way. You still have survivors to find, and 'Heros' to unlock through achievements. You can then play as these guys when starting a new game, as well as bringing them into your existing community when you unlock the achievement.

For someone like me, who likes sandbox types games and being able to play how I want without a linear story to follow...its ideal.

I've been playing this for the last few weeks. Excellent game, but I am hoping for another update soon, it'd be good if you could load up a vehicle with bits that you scavenge instead of running back and forth between your base and the site you're searching.

I did wonder whether or not to bump this thread but decided to go with it.
Bought SOD a couple of months ago in a steam sale (<£5) and it is really very good. Both the DLC were picked up recently with change from a fiver too - it really is very engaging.
For those that have the game the news is that there is MMO code in the Lifeline DLC suggesting more is to come. Might be worth digging it out of the virtual cupboard smile

They've got a fair bit of work to do on it I think. It's an interesting idea, but the execution in so many places was terrible. It's an Xbox Live Arcade game, so you can't expect the earth, but the new wave of XB1 Arcade stuff is looking very slick, hopefully the annoying niggles of SOD will be fixed.

I enjoyed it for a good while. Probably go back and give it another go soon.
