I downloaded Dishonered a couple of days ago and as per usual, after about half and hour, I was bored steless with it. The reason ? Because I don't want all this story stuff, or sneaking about or stealth mode or see this person, see that person, do this, do that, make this choice, make that choice, or read this bit of paper, listen to this thing or whatever.

I did the same with Tomb Raider ( far too many things I don't wont to do, the game is too much like hard work ), and Metro:Last Light (stealth stuff), Max Payne (just a nonsense).

So, what I want is a game like Duke Nukem, Bulletstorm, Hard Reset, Serious Sam, Red Faction etc - i.e. I just want to run around and shoot nasty monsters and I don't want to do any thinking or have any options or be bothered with a story etc.

Help !! What's available that fits the bill ?

Any Call of Duty game from the last 5 years.

Get duke Nukem on emulator?

Bad company 2 multiplayer

Halo Multiplayer

There are a few out there.

However its mostly all multiplayer.

TBF though its a refreshing change, most folk complain that single player games are being dumbed down, apparently they are still complicated smile

That's another thing I don't like; multiplayer.

For me, I have to do enough thinking at work, so I don't want to have to do anymore playing a game !!!

Oddly I am the opposite, I hate multiplayer but love a good involving single player.

I loved Dishonoured, starcraft campaign etc and looking forward to last of us.

However running about shooting things is fun, wolfenstein the new gen is coming out soon and it may be just shooting Nazi's for 8 hours smile

I thought dishonoured was excellent.

Hotline Miami is pretty mindless, but I suspect not what you're after.

Your particular niche may have peaked with serious Sam.....

Last of us looks the same, i.e. too much thinking and choices and story.

Maybe Doom 3:BFG ?

I'm just the same to be honest. My self diagnosed attention deficit disorder is to blame.

Battlefield 3 - Noshahr Canals - Team Deathmatch mode. You're about 10 seconds from the action. The enemy is everywhere.

I started playing through Half Life 2 again recently, and then they released Black Mesa (Half Life 1 brought up to date, basically) and that was fun. Half Life 1 does seem a little unsophisticated these days but a hell of a lot more imaginative than the generic stuff we tend to get now.

Maybe worth a go?

If hacking/cutting zombies is sufficient (limited shooting) then Dead Island?

I've played Black Mesa - that was good. That's the sort of thing I'm looking for.

Dishonoured was great! I value story over relentless shooting/maiming. Bioshock Infite was ace, but it would have been better with about 50% as much shooting.

Doom 3:BFG - downloaded it earlier. It's full on running round and shooting things, no thinking required !!

Vantage. Crazy Japanese style run around and shoot everything that moves nonsense. It even comes complete with cheesy one liners and a bad script.

Out of curiosity, do you read up on the games you are about to buy before buying them? The reason I ask is that none of the games you listed were marketed as 'shoot everything' type games. The fact that you even pondered buying The Last of Us is just crazy.

What I tend to do is have a look at the game on YouTube, and then clearly come to the wrong conclusion ! Did you mean me with the 'Last Of Us' ? I looked at that and dismissed it for the very reasons I've mentioned.
