PS3 Controller not charging.
Discussion
It's a good few years old, but all of sudden stopped charging. I've consulted youtube for taking one to bits & replacing the batt, but does anyone know if it just "dies" like that or does it gradually decrease it's capacity?. Is it worth replacing the battery?.
Also, could it be something other than that?. £40 odd quid is a lot to fork out just for another controller, but in fairness it does get a hammering from the OH and junior, plus the odd knock here and there off the side of the sofa....

Have you tried a different cable and/or try plugging it in to a PC to charge.
Do these things. If neither fix it, then it's either the battery, or the charging circuit (probably the connector, particularly if it gets used a lot). You could replace the battery cheaply, I don't know about the other bits.HBLC said:
Have you tried resetting it?
There's a tiny button on the back next to the screw. Get a pin and hold it down for a few seconds then plug it back in.
Huh. I consider myself quite into tech, but I had no idea there was a reset button on my controllers. Learn something new every day! There's a tiny button on the back next to the screw. Get a pin and hold it down for a few seconds then plug it back in.
Bloody thing is borked.
I did most of the above, I think it's where the cable plugs into the controller is the problem, as it's very loose with a lot of movement. Perhaps it's become detached inside somehow. Not to worry, it has served me well for several years. The thumbsticks were worn out anyway, the "circles" where they sit are worn away as well and it's had its fair share of sticky fingers, stuff spilt over it and general abuse during its lifetime.
Right, next question........Where's a cheap source for genuine PS3 Dualshock Sixaxis controllers?
